Radeon RX 6600M is still available only in one laptop – HP Omen 16 – which did not prevent the first test of this adapter from appearing on the Web. The author of the review did not name the laptop, but it is unlikely that this is some other model.

The testing turned out to be quite voluminous, which allows us to compare the new AMD product with the GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 3050 Ti. At the same time, the TGP of the Radeon adapter was 100-120 W, the RTX 3060 – 115-130 W, and the RTX 3050 Ti – 80-95 W.

In Full HD resolution, for which the negotiated adapters are best suited, the RX 6600M performs on a par with the RTX 3060. In none of the test games did any of these cards have a tangible advantage, so in general the adapters are equal. albeit with the slight advantage of an Nvidia card. As for the RTX 3050 Ti, it is one step lower and is inferior to the new AMD product by about 15-20%. At 2K resolution, the RTX 3060’s advantage over its competitor grows to an average of 13%.

With ray tracing enabled, of course, the RTX 3060 feels much better, 37% off the AMD card. At the same time, interestingly, the RTX 3050 Ti begins to lag behind the RX 6600M more (by 30-40%), and it is not yet clear why. Perhaps this card already has too few RT blocks, so the less efficient blocks in the Radeon adapter take their toll.

In mining, AMD’s new product shows a result of 27.6 MH / s versus 40.3 MH / s for the RTX 3060 and 34 MH / s for its predecessor, the RX 5600M. That is, such an adapter is unlikely to be of interest to miners.

As you can see, absolutely all models have fallen in price. In some cases, the price reduction is very small, but some individual adapters have fallen in price quite noticeably. The record holder here is the Radeon RX 6800, which for a long time maintained a very large margin compared to other models in the line. Immediately, the card fell by 22% in a month.

We can also note the Radeon RX 6500 XT, which continues to get cheaper, although it has long been sold much cheaper than the recommended price. At this price, it simply does not have any competitors with comparable performance. Nvidia does not offer anything new in this segment, and the same GeForce GTX 1650 is sold more expensive.

AMD is not done with socket AM4. According to the insider Greymon55, who publishes his forecasts on Twitter, the “red team” will expand the list of processors with Ryzen 3D V-Cache technology, and the list will include both top-end solutions and budget ones.

According to Greymon55, AMD is preparing several new Zen 3D solutions for socket AM4. It appears to be versions of the Ryzen 5000 line of processors. For example, the existing AMD 5800X3D is based on the 5800X with more cache, while retaining 8-core/16-thread execution.

The source believes that the new chips may be based on Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 9 5950X. At the moment, it is not known how much cache memory such processors can get, but the very fact of increasing the amount of cache will have a positive effect on gaming performance.

If this information is correct, then processors with 3D V-Cache will allow owners of AM4-based computers to get an update without having to change the motherboard and RAM.
