IPhone 12 Models May Get Reverse Charging for Accessories
According to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), the iPhone 12 range may support an inactive accessory wireless charging function. The documentation says the 2020 iPhone supports this feature, which will be enabled for at least one upcoming Apple accessory.
“In addition to charging from a wireless desktop device, the 2020 iPhone also supports 360 kHz accessory charging. At the moment, the only accessory that can be charged from an iPhone is an unannounced Apple device that will appear in the future, ”says the company’s filing for the FCC.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that one such accessory could be the new AirPods with MagSafe support, which can be attached to the back of the smartphone and be charged from it. Previous rumors indicated that the feature was supposed to appear in the iPhone 11 series, but according to Ming-Chi Kuo, it was abandoned because the solution’s effectiveness did not meet Apple’s requirements.
