Apple has decided to increase the limit on the use of RAM in iPads with the release of the iPadOS 15 operating system, which will launch on September 20.
Apple previously decided that apps can use more than 5GB of RAM. This ensures that there is enough memory left on the tablet to keep it running at top speed all the time.
More and more professionals and creatives use Apple’s powerful tablets at work with demanding programs that require more than 5GB of dedicated RAM to perform optimally. This applies to applications for graphic design, 3D modeling, video or photo editing.
According to MacRumors, developers will soon be able to program their apps to request additional RAM so that iPad users can get the most out of even the most demanding apps. The limit of this new memory limit varies for iPads with varying amounts of RAM.
On the iPad Pro with Apple M1 with 16GB of RAM, apps are now allowed to request up to 12GB of RAM, with the remaining 4GB remaining for basic system needs. On iPad Pro models that have 8GB of RAM, Apple allows apps to request up to 6GB on iPadOS 15. The remaining 2GB should keep all essential processes running. No application will be allowed to use this remaining buffer.
According to Apple, all “supported devices” will be able to take advantage of this new memory usage.
Elon Musk accused Twitter of recklessness: the company intends to continue to sue
Billionaire Elon Musk, who plans to acquire Twitter, accused the social network’s executives of reckless actions that jeopardize the completion of the deal.
Musk’s advisers sent a notice on Twitter that the entrepreneur intends to complete the deal on the terms stipulated in the agreement dated April 25, 2022. Musk’s lawyers are pushing for the deal to be canceled in Delaware court, scheduled for October 17, in order to raise the necessary funding without hindrance and complete it as early as October 28.
Surprisingly, they (Twitter) are insisting on continuing this lawsuit, recklessly putting the deal at risk and putting the interests of their shareholders at risk.
In April, Musk offered $44 billion for Twitter, but then demanded to check the company’s data that the number of fake accounts used, among other things, to send spam, did not exceed 5%. According to Musk, the social network underestimated the number of such accounts, and also did not provide sufficient information when requested. He was also dissatisfied with the personnel policy of the company. Later, on July 8, Musk notified Twitter that he was refusing to buy it. The social network filed a lawsuit against the businessman in a Delaware court.
The other day, Elon Musk said that the purchase of Twitter is “an accelerator for creating X, an application for everything.” The service may be very similar to WeChat, the Chinese super app that the billionaire openly admired and grew out of a mini-internet messaging service with a billion user base.
Pavel Durov’s statement about the danger of WhatsApp called the head of the analytical center Zecurion a fight with a competitor
The head of the Zecurion analytical center, Vladimir Ulyanov, said that the words of Telegram founder Pavel Durov about the dangers of using WhatsApp are PR for his messenger, and also added that such statements should be treated with a certain degree of skepticism.
Any programs that we use, both for ordinary users and corporate ones, are all vulnerable in one way or another. If now we do not know about the existence of any vulnerabilities, this does not mean that they do not exist at all.
Vladimir Ulyanov said that messenger vulnerabilities always have a human factor, and their detection is a matter of time.
You should not assume that there is one messenger that is absolutely unique in terms of device and security, and the other is full of holes and bad, and you should not use it. No, this statement is rather made within the framework of competition.
The head of the Zecurion analytical center also noted that in any application there are settings that allow you to increase its security level. He reminded that you should not follow dubious links sent from an unknown addressee.
Earlier, Pavel Durov said that WhatsApp has been a surveillance tool for 13 years.
Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro introduced. 50-megapixel camera, IP68, Android 13 out of the box and far from the most powerful Tensor G2 platform
Today at the next Made by Google event, the American company introduced its new smartphones – Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. These are the first models in the world with Android 13 out of the box (and they will receive security updates for five years) and the only ones based on the Tensor 2 single-chip platform, which, alas, has not become faster than MediaTek and Qualcomm SoCs.
Google did not focus on performance in the first Tensor, nor does the second generation SoC. About 800,000 points in AnTuTu is the level of Snapdragon 888/888 Plus. However, users of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro do not need more power – these are not gaming models. At the same time, due to the optimization of Android 13 in real use cases, new items may be better than other flagships. And, of course, the emphasis in SoC is on the capabilities of AI and machine learning (especially for the camera): in this regard, Tensor G2 should be, if not ahead, then at the level of other top SoCs.
The CPU is represented by two Cortex-X1 cores, two Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55 cores. The configuration is the same as in the first Tensor, but the frequencies are slightly higher. But the GPU is new – Arm Mali-G710 MC10 instead of Mali-G78. It is on it that the greatest burden falls when accelerating AI tasks. Each model has two configurations: 8/128 and 8/256 GB for the Pixel 7 and 12/128 and 12/256 GB for the Pixel 7 Pro.
In general, both models support wireless charging, are equipped with Titan M2 chips and are protected from dust and water in accordance with the IP68 degree. The front cameras are also the same – with 10.8 megapixel sensors and support for 4K video recording.
The Pixel 7 camera is represented by two modules. The main one has a 50-megapixel sensor, a wide-angle lens and optical stabilization, the other one has a 12-megapixel sensor and an ultra-wide-angle lens. The Pixel 7 Pro has a third module – with a 48 MP sensor and a lens that provides 5x optical zoom. Accordingly, the maximum zoom in Pixel 7 is 8x, in Pixel 7 Pro – 30x.
The Pixel 7 Pro features a 6.7-inch OLED screen with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz frame rate. The Pixel 7 has a simpler display: 6.3 inches, Full HD + and 90 Hz.
The battery capacity of the Pixel 7 Pro was 5000 mAh, the battery capacity of the Pixel 7 was 4355 mAh. For Pixel 7 in the basic configuration, they ask for $ 600 or 650 euros, for Pixel 7 Pro – $ 900 or 900 euros. Pre-orders are accepted from today, retail sales will start on October 13th.
