Introduced low-cost technology for charging smartphones in 5 minutes
A group of researchers from the University of Cambridge will soon be able to develop a battery charging system that will completely contaminate smartphone batteries within 5 minutes.
The research team is led by Dr. Ashray Rao of the Cambridge Cavendish Laboratory. The team investigated the charging and discharging behavior of lithium-ion batteries and developed a mechanism to control the charging rate, leading to an ultra-fast charging system.
This revolutionary charging technology is reported to be low cost and can extend battery life while avoiding overheating. It is not yet known how long it will take for researchers to commercialize this technology.
Xiaomi recently announced a 200W fast charging system called HyperCharge, capable of fully charging the battery of a modified Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro smartphone with a 4000 mAh capacity in 8 minutes.
Xiaomi has also filed a patent filing with the National Intellectual Property Administration of China (CNIPA), which describes an innovative sound charging technology.
