Intel Warns Customers To Discontinue 300 Series Chipsets
Intel plans to discontinue 300-series chipsets, including the Z390, Z370, and B and H series models. These chipsets, designed for motherboards with Intel LGA 1151 sockets, were introduced in 2017 along with 8th Gen Core processors. (Coffee Lake). The lifetime of these processors is coming to an end, making further release of the corresponding sets of system logic meaningless.
On Monday, the manufacturer posted a notice 117972-00 stating that the GL82Z370, FH82H370, FH82Z390, FH82B360, NV82QMS380, GL82H310C, GL82B365 and FH82H310D microcircuits cannot be ordered or changed after July 23, 2021. The date of the last shipment of the ordered products is January 28, 2022.
Curiously, the list includes the H310 chipset, which is designed for long-term availability and comes in three variants: the 14nm H310 and H310D, and the 22nm H310C. The source suggests that it turned out to be not as popular as expected. In any case, it turned out to be far from the H81 chipset, which had been in production for seven years.
Over the years, Intel 400-series chipsets have been unveiled, and the 500-series is expected to be announced during CES 2021.
