Intel wants its top-end Arc graphics card to compete on equal terms with the GeForce RTX 3070 and Radeon RX 6700 XT, but so far it has not been very successful. Performance – on par with GeForce RTX 2060

The top Intel graphics card of the Arc family with 512 computing units was lit up in the Geekbench benchmark, thanks to which some of its characteristics were confirmed and, of course, the performance became known. Alas, the device does not indulge in performance yet.

Back in September, it became known that Intel itself is considering the GeForce RTX 3070 (3070 Ti) and Radeon RX 6700 XT as the main competitors of its top-end video card. However, at the moment, the Xe-HPG DG2-512EU demonstrates performance at the level of the GeForce RTX 2060. In the OpenCL test, it gains 69 220 points, and in the GeForce RTX 2060 – 70 664 points. And although this test is very specific, Intel will still have to “find somewhere” at least 40% of the performance (the Radeon RX 6700 XT has about 100,000 points in the same test).

From the test, we find out that the GPU frequency is 2.1 GHz, and in general this correlates with reality. The maximum frequency will probably go up to 2.5 GHz. But the amount of memory is either determined incorrectly, or in the test instance Intel uses a little more memory than it will be in the final version – 8 or 12 GB. With a 256-bit bus and 14 GHz GDDR6 memory, the video card’s memory bandwidth should be on par with the Radeon RX 6800 XT / 6900 XT and GeForce RTX 3070.

The official premiere of Intel’s Arc graphics cards is expected next year – in the first or second quarter.

The 32-core Threadripper 5975WX is priced at $3,590, while its predecessor, the Threadripper 3975WX, is officially listed at $2,750. The Threadripper 5965WX is also available in China for the equivalent of $2,570.

Nvidia today officially introduced the budget GeForce GTX 1630 video card. Interestingly, as in the case of the new Intel Arc A380, sales started in China – there the GeForce GTX 1630 can be purchased for 1000-1100 yuan, which is approximately $ 150 (including VAT). Similar money is asked in China for the Radeon RX 6400 and, in fact, the same Intel Arc A380.

The GeForce GTX 1630 is as close as possible to its older sister: it has the same TDP level (75 W), the same cooling system, the same architecture and the same printed circuit board. The only difference is that the GeForce GTX 1630 has a narrower memory bus (64 bits vs. 128, so the memory bandwidth is significantly less – 96 GB / s vs. 192 GB / s) and fewer CUDA cores – 512 instead of 896. There is no data yet on how much the GeForce GTX 1630 will cost in other regions.

Fraudsters have learned to force customers to change SIM card

VTB has uncovered a new method of telephone fraud, as a result of which a user can unwittingly provide access to his online bank to outsiders. Fraudsters call under the guise of employees of the support service of a mobile operator and inform the subscriber about the hacking of his personal account or phone. In order to prevent the user’s personal data from being exposed to the public as a result of the “hacking”, he is asked to dial a special USSD command on the phone, consisting of a combination of numbers, symbols and a phone number. As a result, the subscriber himself changes the settings so that calls and SMS are forwarded from his device to the number of scammers.

The scammers may then call again to report that the problem has been fixed, but in fact they receive codes from messages and can steal money from the user’s account by gaining access to their online banking. VTB experts recommend installing caller IDs on your smartphones that will allow you to distinguish a real call from a fraudulent one, or not to answer calls from unknown numbers. It is also important to be vigilant and, at the slightest doubt, end a conversation that seems suspicious. According to VTB, in May, the number of customer requests for calls from intruders increased by 70% compared to April this year, exceeding 640,000.
