Intel released the second version of the driver for discrete Arc graphics cards, but it didn’t get any easier. The application still crashes, problems with a lot of games
The first review of the serial notebook Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro with a discrete 3D accelerator Intel Arc A350M showed how raw the software for this GPU turned out to be. Reviewers noted the inadequate behavior of the GPU in games, some games did not start at all, and there were questions to the control panel itself. Intel has now released the second version of the Windows DCH Arc driver, 30.0.101.1330. But it didn’t get much better.
The new software fixes a number of issues with both application software (such as Topaz Labs Video Enhance AI and Adobe Lightroom) and games (Horizon Zero Dawn, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Strange Brigade, Borderlands 3, and Diablo 2: Resurrected were texture issues when using the DirectX 12 API, and in DOTA 2 and Grand Theft Auto V, a freezing issue was fixed when using the DirectX 11 API).
But at the same time, there are still a lot of unresolved problems both with games (problems with textures in Back 4 Blood, Forza Horizon 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, FIFA 22, Gears 5, Guardians of the Galaxy, Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition) , and with the Arc Control application itself, which, for example, can simply crash when capturing sound during a stream or after installing / updating drivers. And this is not a complete list of known issues to be addressed.
It should be noted that laptops with discrete Intel GPUs have already gone on sale in South Korea, and by the end of the quarter, the geography of sales will expand. By that time, the drivers will obviously not be so raw. But here the question arises – will the situation with Intel Arc discrete graphics cards for desktop PCs repeat itself? Perhaps to avoid such serious problems with a large number of games, Intel delayed their release. According to rumors – until the middle of summer.

The GeForce RTX 3050 can now also be almost fully used for Ethereum mining. Nvidia LHR v3 security cracked 90%

A couple of weeks ago, the LHR protection in Nvidia graphics cards was cracked, which allowed everyone to use accelerators for Ethereum mining at full capacity again. But in fact, then the protection of LHR v2 was cracked, but not LHR v3.
The LHR v3 version is present in Nvidia’s latest releases: RTX 3050 and RTX 3080 12GB. And it is still not completely hacked, but now the NiceHash miner is able to use 90% of the performance of these cards when mining cryptocurrency. It’s not a complete hack yet, but it’s getting very close.
Fortunately, at the moment the cryptocurrency market is in a state of decline, so it hardly makes any sense to buy the same RTX 3050 for mining, which means that gamers need not worry for now.
By the way, a large article has been published on our website with an analysis of methods for cracking Nvidia protection.

AMD will show the world’s first dual-chip chipset in a few days. The company is preparing the announcement of X670E, X670 and B650 chipsets

As soon as we managed to touch on the topic of AMD’s announcement at Computex 2022 a few days later, data appeared on the Web that the company could show us.
Unfortunately, this data does not apply to processors or video cards. It’s about chipsets. Sources say AMD will unveil at least three next-generation chipsets for the AM5 platform during its event. These will be the X670E, X670 and B650 chipsets. Judging by the names, we should also expect the A620, but there is no data yet. It is likely that such a chipset will simply be released later.
Let’s start with the older solution. AMD X670E will be the top chipset, and the letter E in the name stands for Extreme. It won’t differ from the X670 in terms of features and capabilities, but motherboards based on this chipset should provide PCIe 5.0 connectivity to both the GPU and the M.2 slot, or possibly multiple slots, while motherboards X670-based ones may use PCIe 4.0 instead. Whether there will be any other differences remains to be seen.
But the source confirms early reports that the X670 (respectively, the X670E) will be a dual-chip chipset with two identical chipsets called Promontory 21. And the B650 chipset will be the same chip.
