Intel Orders Industry’s First Twinscan EXE:5200 from ASML

ASML and Intel have announced a new milestone in their multi-year collaboration to advance cutting-edge semiconductor lithography technologies. Intel has ordered the industry’s first TWINSCAN EXE:5200 system from ASML, a high-volume production system for ultraviolet (EUV) lithography with a high numerical aperture and a throughput of more than 200 wafers per hour.

According to ASML, the EXE platform represents an evolutionary step in EUV technology and includes a new optical design. It allows you to significantly speed up the implementation of certain stages of production. The TWINSCAN EXE:5000 and EXE:5200 systems have a numerical aperture of 0.55, while previous EUV machines had a numerical aperture of 0.33. The larger the numerical aperture, the higher the resolution of the projection setup. In combination with the wavelength used, this parameter determines the smallest dimensions of the manufactured element.

Incidentally, Intel was the first to purchase the earlier TWINSCAN EXE:5000 system in 2018.

According to ASML’s plans, High-NA lithography, i.e. high numerical aperture lithography, will enter mass production in 2025.

Perhaps the information about 10x optical zoom is a mistake or a typo. And Huawei simply does not have an inexpensive smartphone with a 10x optical zoom. In fact, there are no such devices on the market at all.

Perhaps this refers to a hybrid zoom, or even only digital. But if, by some miracle, a $250 smartphone with a 10x optical zoom does come out, it will be a unique product.

From the rest, a 6.7-inch IPS screen, 5G support, an unknown eight-core platform, 8 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of flash memory, and a 4900 mAh battery are reported. Dimensions will be 163.3 x 74.7 x 8.4 mm with a weight of 195 g.
