Intel Meteor Lake-S processors may be retired in favor of Arrow Lake-S
Intel may ditch Meteor Lake-S processors in favor of Arrow Lake-S. According to Benchlife, the second will enter the market in the first half of 2024, that is, in about a year.
We have known for a long time that both lines would have to use the same LGA1851 socket, so Intel’s plans cannot change here. The source talks about the Z890, B860 and H810 system logic sets, but the H870, which was allegedly planned, will not be released.
Arrow Lake-S CPUs will only support DDR5 memory, just like Ryzen 7000. This should give a good boost to the market adoption of this standard. The source also says that the maximum configuration of Arrow Lake-S will remain in the format of 8 large and 16 small cores versus six large and 16 small ones for Meteor Lake-S.
However, a number of points should be noted here. Firstly, Intel has officially said several times in recent months that Meteor Lake will be released at the end of this year. Secondly, earlier we already heard rumors that Meteor Lake will be released only in the mobile segment, and Intel itself did not say anything about this moment. So it’s entirely possible that Meteor Lake-S is indeed canceled in favor of Arrow Lake, but mobile Meteor Lake will still come out.

System76 – a well-known manufacturer of Linux systems – introduced the Gazelle laptop. This model is equipped with a 14-core Intel Core i9-13900H processor and a GeForce RTX 3050 3D accelerator, making it one of the most powerful laptops preloaded with Linux. The OS here is either Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS.
Gazelle has two options – with screens with a diagonal of 15.6 and 17.3 inches, but apart from the dimensions there are no differences: the specifications are the same, and even the screen parameters are the same – Full HD resolution and a frame rate of 144 Hz.
The maximum RAM (DDR4-3200 MHz) is 64 GB, the maximum SSD is 8 TB (there are two M.2 slots). The configuration also includes Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5 adapters, stereo speakers, a 1 MP webcam, and a 54 Wh battery. The weight of the 15-inch model is 1.99 kg, the 17-inch model is 2.41 kg. The cost is from 1300 dollars.
The range of MSI has replenished with a new monitor – G253PF. The device uses a 24.5-inch IPS panel with Full HD resolution and a high frame rate of 380Hz. The declared pixel response time (GtG) is only 1 ms, the maximum brightness and contrast are 300 cd/sq.m. and 1000 : 1, respectively.
The MSI G253PF complies with the DisplayHDR 400 standard and supports Adaptive Sync and G-Sync frequency synchronization technologies. There are two video inputs – DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b, but the maximum frequency is available only when connected via the first one. If connected via HDMI 2.0b, the maximum frequency will be 240 Hz.
