Intel is ditching three generations of far from the oldest processors. Comet Lake-U, Ice Lake-U, and Lakefield CPUs end production

Published

on

Intel, as stated in its documentation, is discontinuing the production of several generations of processors. This applies to CPUs Comet Lake-U, Ice Lake-U, and Lakefield.

These are all relatively fresh processors that have hit the market over the past couple of years, and Comet Lake-U is still easy to find in a number of laptops.

On the other hand, Comet Lake-U and Ice Lake-U both have excellent replacements in the form of Tiger Lake-U, so Intel’s move is logical. As for Lakefield, it seems that these processors did not end up in any mass production in the end. Based on such CPUs, only a few laptop models were presented. Recall that Lakefield became the first heterogeneous consumer processors from Intel, combining one large and four small cores.

Intel will ship the last batches of the above processors in April 2022, that is, they can be found in mobile PCs for at least another year.
