Intel begins construction of two new chip factories in Arizona

Intel wrapped up this week with the construction of two new state-of-the-art chip factories in Chandler, Arizona. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The two new factories in Arizona are expected to not only support the growing demand for Intel products, but also provide contract manufacturing capacity through Intel Foundry Services (IFS). The volume of investments in the project is $ 20 billion.

With the addition of Fab 52 and Fab 62, the Ocotillo campus will have a total of six factories. The project is associated with the creation of more than 3,000 high-tech and high-paying jobs at Intel, 3,000 jobs in construction and the indirect creation of about 15,000 additional jobs in the local community. When the new factories are fully operational in 2024, they will manufacture products using Intel’s most advanced manufacturing processes, including the Intel 20A.
