Intel Alder Lake processors are getting more and more attractive: conventional “non-overclockable” CPUs can also be overclocked. Core i5-12400 clocked up to 5.2 GHz
The Intel Alder Lake processors of the Core i3 and Core i5 series already turned out to be very attractive based on the ratio of performance and price compared to AMD Ryzen CPUs, and now another argument has been found in favor of these processors, and a weighty one: as it turned out, even “non-overclockable” models without index K can be overclocked. And in the case of the potentially hit Core i5-12400, overclocking is fully justified, since you can count on a free performance increase of about a third. True, for this at hand you need to have a suitable motherboard.
The well-known overclocker Der8auer reported that ordinary 65-watt Alder Lake without the K index can be overclocked. He noticed that Asus motherboards based on the Z690 chipset (in particular, ROG Maximus and APEX) have the ability to change the BCLK frequency. Moreover, it works only in conjunction with a conventional processor, without the K index in the title.
According to the overclocker, the BCLK OC function is implemented in Asus Z690 APEX and Z690 HERO motherboards with BIOS version 0811. But, for example, it does not work in the same ROG Strix Z690-I. Der8auer suggests that BCLK OC is currently (and will be available) only on top-of-the-line Z690 models with a separate (external) clock generator.
How the overclocking of ordinary Alder Lake takes place, the overclocker demonstrates on the video. It should only be noted that in the case of Alder Lake, bus overclocking does not affect the operation of peripherals, for example, devices connected via the PCIe bus, so this is not only a fairly simple, but generally safe method. Which, however, is accompanied by an increase in the core voltage, an increase in temperature and an increase in power consumption – this must be taken into account when choosing a cooling system for an overclocked CPU.
As for the performance increase, it is, and, in the case of the Core i5-12400, it is noticeable. The CPU ran at 5.2 GHz with all six active cores. Its maximum frequency in the base, recall, is 4.4 GHz. This naturally led to an increase in performance both in benchmarks and in games. The overclocker also overclocked the Core i5-12600, but the result is already more modest here – performance increased by 16%.
In general, the entry-level and mid-range Alder Lake, which already turned out to be very attractive against the background of AMD’s competitors, have now received another weighty argument in their favor.

The Ryzen 9 7950X will be able to run at 5.5GHz for multiple cores without any overclocking. AMD reveals demo details at Computex

Two days ago, AMD formally unveiled the Ryzen 7000 processors without giving much away. But she showed the new CPU at 5.5 GHz and the game Ghostwire: Toyko. And now it became known that there was no talk of overclocking then.
The company has confirmed that the 16-core processor has not been overclocked, meaning 5.5GHz is in line with the specs. It is also worth mentioning here that the demonstration stand included Asetek liquid cooling, but this does not mean at all that such a frequency for this CPU will be achievable only with similar COs.
Moreover, the frequency of 5.5 GHz was achieved not by one core, but by several, but there are no details. AMD said that under load, the frequency fluctuated between 5.2-5.5 GHz for several cores. That is, ordinary users who buy such a CPU should also count on this.
As for the name of the CPU, AMD itself, of course, does not name it in any way yet, but most sources talk about the Ryzen 9 7950X, which is logical, since AMD has not changed the principles of naming its CPUs for a long time.

AMD Ryzen 7 6800H octa-core processor, GeForce RTX 2050 graphics, and 3.2K screen for $975. Inexpensive powerful laptops Redmi Book Pro 2022 Ryzen Edition

Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Redmi Book Pro 2022 Ryzen Edition laptops, which were announced in early March. There are two new products – Redmi Book Pro 14 2022 Ryzen Edition with a 14-inch screen and Redmi Book Pro 15 2022 Ryzen Edition with a 15.6-inch screen. All of them are equipped exclusively with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD.
There are two processors to choose from: a 6-core Ryzen 5 6600H and an 8-core Ryzen 7 6800H. They are available for both the younger version and the older one. Redmi Book Pro 15 2022 Ryzen Edition in the top version is also endowed with a discrete 3D accelerator in the face of the GeForce RTX 2050.
Redmi Book Pro 14 2022 comes with a 2.5K resolution screen, 120Hz frame rate, DC Dimming support and 100% sRGB color space coverage. Redmi Book Pro 15 2022 received a display with a resolution of 3.2K and a frame rate of 90 Hz, everything else is like the younger model.
Redmi Book Pro 14 2022 is characterized by a thickness of 15.9 mm and a weight of 1.45 kg. Among the interface connectors are USB-C with Thunderbolt 4 interface, one each USB-C and USB-A, as well as HDMI 2.0. The thickness of Redmi Book Pro 15 2022 is only 14.9mm. The set of connectors here is the same as in the younger model, but there is also a slot for SD memory cards. A feature of Redmi Book Pro 15 2022 is a cooling system with three heat pipes and two fans – in the younger model, the cooling system is simpler.
As for prices, they look like this:
Redmi Book Pro 14 2022 Ryzen Edition:
- Ryzen 5 6600H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – $675;
- Ryzen 7 6800H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – $765
Redmi Book Pro 15 2022 Ryzen Edition:
- Ryzen 5 6600H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – $705;

A large and complex processor that looks like a little man. Amazon AWS Graviton3 go to market

Amazon today made available AWS Graviton3 processors, which were shown six months ago.
Like the previous models in the series, Graviton3 is server-oriented and created by Amazon itself for its own cloud servers. It contains about 55 billion transistors and is based on the Arm architecture. Relative to its predecessor, the novelty is two to three times faster, depending on the tasks.
But one of the most interesting features of Graviton3 is the design. Or structure. It is not so important how to call it, but what is important is that, as you can see in the photo, the processor crystals are arranged in such a way that they resemble a little man.
There are seven dies in total: the main processor, two DDR5 RAM dies and two PCIe bus dies. Another distinguishing feature of Graviton3 is that it is designed for three-socket motherboards, which is quite rare. Typically, the number of sockets, if greater than one, is a multiple of two.

Asus introduced a unique monitor with a frame rate of 500 Hz. ROG Swift 500 Hz received a TN panel

While monitors with frame rates over 240Hz are still rare, Asus took the ROG Swift 500Hz model and showed it. As you might guess, with a frame rate of 500 Hz!
At the moment, the maximum value is 360 Hz, so there is an impressive jump. The monitor is coming out as part of Nvidia’s G-Sync initiative, which means it will support the corresponding technology.
The monitor is positioned as a solution for eSports, which is logical, since the average gamer is unlikely to feel those same 500 Hz.
As for the rest of the parameters, the monitor is based on a 24-inch TN panel with Full HD resolution. Of course, this may seem outdated, but still we are talking about a professional tool, so for potential users, this is not all minuses. But the release date on the market is still unknown. It is possible that the monitor will be released only at the end of the year.
