Instagram early tests new subscriptions feature for creators
Instagram takes another step in favor of its creators with the experimental launch of its new subscriptions feature, arriving at a fairly early stage, in the “alpha” phase, they point out, in the United States, with a total of ten creators of the platform participating in said market.
The social platform owned by Meta hopes to receive feedback from these creators and their subscribers at this stage to improve the feature, which is why they have started with a very small group of creators.
The creators can choose from eight different pricing options for subscriptions, ranging from 0.99 dollars per month to 99.99 dollars per month, depending on how they value their content and how much their followers are able to pay to access exclusive content, but for the moment Instagram is Take any percentage of what you get.
Another step to favor its creators against the competition
In this sense, subscribers, in addition to having a special purple badge, will be able to access limited Stories for them, represented by purple rings, they will receive alerts for transmissions that are also limited for them, with the possibility of interacting more closely with the creators, in addition to being able to access surveys and other elements intended exclusively for subscribers.
Those who want to become the subscriber of a certain creator, will be able to subscribe through the mobile application that Instagram has both for Android as for iOS, strengthening its mobile apps against the web, which despite the advances, always leaves it a little behind in the comparison of benefits.
Of course, subscribers will not be able to take screenshots or record content for later disclosure, since it contravenes the rules of participation in the platform, in addition to the consequent anger of the creators, who will have the possibility of denouncing them.
For their part, the creators, beyond being able to identify the subscribers, in the current stage of the test will not have metric panels on subscribers, but on the profits they generate with the subscriptions obtained, to which will be added later other management tools.
As we have commented many times, creators are taking more and more prominence, and with this in mind, from Instagram they do not want rival platforms to offer more to creators than they do, with their sights on TikTok, but also before a growing Snapchat and also before YouTube, which is not far behind, among other platforms that also take creators into account.
This is the latest step for the Meta conglomerate to empower creators and help them monetize their work.

Employees of Apple and Twitter are driven to the offices. You can get fired for working from home

Zoe Schiffer, who was recently managing editor of Twitter and now holds the same position at Platformer, said that Apple strictly monitors how employees visit offices.
Apple tracks employee attendance (using electronic badge records) and alerts employees if they don’t show up to the office at least 3 times a week.
Zoe Schiffer
Some at Apple, according to Schiffer, say that non-compliance could lead to dismissal, but she added that this does not seem like company policy.
In addition, she revealed that her former boss, Elon Musk, sent an email to Twitter employees at 2:30 a.m. stating that “office visits are no longer optional.” The billionaire noticed that the San Francisco office was half empty when he last visited.

Scissors undercut: Windows 11 vulnerability reveals sensitive information from screenshots, including deleted parts

A dangerous vulnerability has been discovered in one of the standard Windows 11 applications that could lead to the disclosure of sensitive information to the user. Moreover, at the moment the vulnerability is not closed and attackers can use it.
We are talking about the application Snipping Tool (Scissors). The vulnerability, called aCropalypse, allows you to undo changes made by a user when editing a screenshot, including cropped or blurred parts that hide sensitive data.
When you edit a screenshot, you can save it with the same name as the original file by overwriting it. However, as it turns out, the Windows 11 Snipping Tool does not remove the original information from the file, but simply leaves it added at the end, which is usually invisible to users. With some trickery, a potential attacker can extract hidden information from a file and see what information has been edited.
As you can see, edited screenshots are usually much larger due to the inclusion of information from the original image.
This is a pretty serious vulnerability. For example, if you share a screenshot of an order confirmation page on Amazon, it may contain an address, the same goes for credit card numbers and other sensitive data.

Whatsapp has a big update for groups – you can see common groups and more

The WhatsApp team announced the launch of new features that improve the experience of groups for both administrators and ordinary users. As noted in the press service, managing and navigating through groups will become easier.
Admins have new controls to control privacy in groups. Now admins will be able to accept or reject requests to join a group through an invite link or directly from the community.
For ordinary users, it became possible to easily view common groups. You can now find shared groups by contact name. This is convenient, for example, if the user needs to check which group an acquaintance belongs to with him.
The new features have begun rolling out and will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.
