Indian smartphone market fell 13%

India’s smartphone shipments in the second quarter fell 13% from the first quarter. In just three months from April to July, 32.4 million devices were shipped. Canalys analysts attribute the drop to the negative impact of the second wave of COVID-19. Note that compared to the second quarter of 2020, that is, in annual terms, there is an increase of 87%.

Xiaomi remains the market leader. She shipped 9.5 million units, which corresponds to 29% of the market. Samsung is in second place. The South Korean company has shipped 5.5 million devices, which corresponds to 17% of the market. Vivo ranks third with 5.4 million smartphones shipped. This figure also corresponds to about 17% of the market. Realme follows with 15%, and Oppo closes the top five with 12%. All other manufacturers in total occupy 11% of the market.
