The Android Authority resource has received information that Samsung, as before, will ship its new flagship Galaxy S22 smartphones with different single-chip systems depending on the region. Some models will be powered by Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 2200 SoC, while others will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform.

The source confirms that Samsung is going to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in South Korea, North America, Australia, India, UAE and South Africa. Europe and the UK will receive Exynos 2200-based versions. Historically, Samsung has shipped its flagship Galaxy S series smartphones with Qualcomm chips to South Korea and the US, while Exynos-based versions have been sold in other regions. This time, only Europe and the UK will receive Exynos 2200 versions.

Both mobile platforms are manufactured using a 4nm process technology and have eight-core processors with a productive Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores. It remains to wait for comparative tests, however, the first data says that Exynos lost to Snapdragon again: the Exynos 2200 CPU is only 5% faster than the Exynos 2100 CPU.
