In the United States, a terrorist was detained who wanted to “destroy 70% of the entire Internet”

Last Thursday, the FBI arrested a Texas man who was planning a terrorist attack in one of Amazon’s data centers.

Seth Aaron Pendley, 28, intended to plant explosives at an Amazon data center in Virginia. Pendley explained his desire by the fact that, in his opinion, Amazon centers serve the FBI, CIA and other federal agencies.

Interestingly, as Pendley argued during the preparation of the terrorist attack, he hoped to destroy about 70% of the entire Internet by his actions. Apparently, he believed that the Network was designed in such a way that the destruction of one data center would lead to just such consequences.

However, there was no talk of the complete destruction of the object. The source is not talking about the amount of C4 the attacker was going to use, but this is clearly not a truck packed with explosives.

As for the arrest, the FBI drew attention to Pendley even when he shared his plans on one of the forums. After that, Pendley was taken to an undercover FBI agent who handed over a dummy bomb to the failed terrorist, after which the arrest took place. If guilty, Pendley faces up to 20 years in prison.
