In the past quarter, HDD shipments were 14% less than the year before
More than 67 million hard disk drives were shipped in the last quarter. This is 6% more than in the third quarter of 2020, but 14% less in annual terms. Such data is contained in a report prepared by experts of the analytical company Trendfocus.
According to analysts, Seagate, the market leader, shipped 27.70-28.20 million HDDs during the reporting period. This is 7.3-9.2% more than in the previous quarter, but 13.9-15.4% less than a year ago. At the end of the quarter, Seagate holds 41.5% of the market.
The share of the second largest WDC is 37.1%. This manufacturer shipped 24.80-25.20 million HDDs for the quarter, which is 8.2-9.9% more than in the third quarter, but 14.1-15.4% less in annual terms.
The third place belongs to Toshiba. Its share is 21.4%. It is noteworthy that this manufacturer reduced supplies not only in annual but also in quarterly terms – by 11.0-12.2% and 0.4-1.8%, respectively.

The Chinese brand Chuwi, known for its tablet computers, has a novelty – the HiPad X Pro tablet, which replaced the HiPad X. The device received a larger screen, four speakers instead of two, and improved cameras.
The IPS display is characterized by a diagonal of 10.5 inches and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The maximum brightness is 360 cd/sq.m. The software platform of the device is Android 12, the hardware platform is SoC Unisoc T616 with eight cores (two Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55). There is only one memory configuration – with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory.
The front camera is characterized by a resolution of 8 megapixels, the main camera uses a sensor with a resolution of 13 megapixels. HiPad X Pro received a metal case with a thickness of only 7 mm, the weight of the tablet is 500 grams. The battery capacity was 7000 mAh, the cost of Chuwi HiPad X Pro is $150.

The Aorus FO48U is configured with a KVM switch, three speakers with a total power of 50W, one DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 connectors, a USB-C port (for KVM) and a pair of USB 3.0 Type-A, an RJ-45 port.

Xiaomi 11T and Poco F4 receive MIUI 14 stable version
Xiaomi continues to churn out stable versions of MIUI 14 for its devices outside China. Now Xiaomi 11T and Poco F4 have received such firmware. True, not everyone will be able to install it, but only participants in the proprietary Mi Pilot beta testing program.
The MIUI 14 stable for these models is based on Android 13. The firmware is 3.5 GB in size and includes the December Android security updates. It is noted that the firmware for Xiaomi 11T is MIUI 14.0.3.0 TKWMIXM and it is available in all regions (global version), the firmware for Poco F4 is MIUI 14.2.0 TLMEUXM and it has been released only in Europe so far.
