In The Batman, the Sphinx is inspired by the Zodiac Killer
What would a super hero be without the super villains he has to fight on a daily basis? And the more dangerous they are, the better! Batman can boast of having truly fearsome enemies and not just because they have terrible superpowers: indeed, Batman’s nemeses are best known for their dark and extremely complex mentality.

Often when we talk about enemies of Batman, we immediately think of the Joker, Catwoman or even the Penguin. But there are plenty more! Thus in “The Batman” by Matt Reeves, it is the Sphinx who is honored. Much like the Joker, this villain has no superpowers but is just as twisted and deranged, if not more so. Matt Reeves said thathe was inspired by the Zodiac Killer to give the character even more depth.
Matt Reeves confides
It was during a conversation with MovieMaker that Matt Reeves confided in the Sphinx. The director said that “The Batman” version of the character is greatly inspired by the Zodiac Killer, a serial killer who raged in the 70s in California (United States). The latter was never caught, despite years of tracking and investigation, while he regularly sent letters to the press to brag about his murders.
The story of the Zodiac Killer has inspired many books, films and documentaries and now “The Batman”. Matt Reeves explained that he more or less modeled his Sphinx on the Zodiac Slayer. “He kills very important people in Gotham, and they are the pillars of society. Following the murders, it reveals the ways these people weren’t all they said they were, and you start to realize there’s some sort of association. And so you have Gordon and Batman trying to follow the clues to try to make sense of this thing.”
Who is the Sphinx?
Real name Edward Nashton or Edward Nigma, the Sphinx is one of Batman’s most formidable enemies. Preferring mind games to physical confrontations, he always attacks the Dark Knight in a sneaky way. With him, real intellectual arm wrestling awaits the hero. Especially since generally, it is the solution of the enigma that will allow him to thwart the set traps or even save people. We can’t wait to find out what he has in store for Batman in Matt Reeves’ film. See you on March 4 at the cinema!

The filming of Black Panther 2 is once again postponed

Two years after the start of the pandemic, the cinema industry continues to suffer from its consequences. To limit the spread of the virus, most production studios had to change their plans. Some have been forced to push back the release date of their films. Others had to suspend their filming.
Today, with the Omicron variant, the situation does not seem to have changed much. As proof, a few days ago, we learned that the filming of Black Panther 2 has been postponed. Marvel had to make this decision following the disturbing progress of the Omicron variant in Atlanta. Unfortunately, that’s where part of Black Panther 2.

This is not the first time that the filming of this second part entitled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been suspended.
A real black series
Decidedly, the fate persists on Black Panther 2. Indeed, in the middle of the year 2020, the filming of the film had already been suspended after the death of Chadwick Boseman. The actor was known for portraying the role of King T’Challa. He died of colon cancer.
The filming of Black Panther 2 was then suspended while director Ryan Coogler decides on the future of the film. After filming resumed, actress Letitia Wright suffered numerous injuries. Now, it is because of the Covid-19 that the filming is postponed. It is said that several members of the film crew have been infected with the virus. Among them is actress Lupita Nyong’o.
Letitia Wright headlining
MCU fans have been left wondering about Black Panther’s future following the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Today, we know that the second installment will return with Letitia Wright as headliner. The latter embodies Shuri, the little sister of King T’Challa.
At this time, it is unclear if Shuri will take over her brother’s costume. Alongside Letitia Wright, we will see Danai Gurira again in the role of Okoye. We can also find Lupita Nyong’o in the skin of Nakia and Angela Bassett in that of Ramonda.
For the time being, we do not know when the filming of Black Panther 2 will be able to resume. Marvel’s plans, however, remain unchanged. Indeed, the release date of the film is still set for November 11, 2022.

Slytherin: Know some facts about Hogwarts House

For seven books, the writer J.K. Rowling developed a world of mystery and magic with the saga Harry Potter, focused on the life of an 11-year-old wizard who grew up and matured in the shadow of a great event that occurred when he was still a baby. All this on account of a powerful wizard coming from the House Slytherin (Slytherin, in the original), who sought immortality in every possible way.
Interestingly, many characters hailing from that same house have been presented throughout the book and film series as great antagonists and truly ambitious people. In this way, check out some of the main characteristics of Slytherin and try to understand why all your chosen ones act this way.

Salazar Slytherin: the founder
As Harry Potter fans already know, the Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry were defined by its founders Godric Gryffindor (Gryffindor), Helga Hufflepuff (Hufflepuff), Rowena Ravenclaw (Ravenclaw) and Salazar Slytherin (Slytherin). Each of them presented questions related to their own personality to define their guests, being guided by a natural element and a symbol of the animal kingdom.
In this sense, Salazar Slytherin defined that Slytherin members would have to be ambitious, show resourcefulness, leadership and also cunning to fit into the House.
With the colors green and silver, the element of water and a serpent as a symbol on his coat of arms, Salazar valued the issue of “pure blood” among witches, mainly because he believed in a kind of supremacy.

Throughout the history of Hogwarts, Horace Slughorn and Severus Snape were two directors from the House, which also counts the Bloody Baron as its Phantom Patronus. The Slytherin common room is located in a dungeon in the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
And while Salazar Slytherin appreciates some traditional values like ambition and leadership, Slytherin members have also been known for being proud, determined, flouting rules and exhibiting self-preservation.
The symbol of the House and rivalry with Gryffindor
According to the books, the serpent was chosen as a symbol of Slytherin because it is recognized as the wisest of creatures. However, there is speculation that this is directly linked to the perversity of these animals, which are seen by most people as venomous and despicable. This helped to further reinforce the House’s bad reputation, which is seen as a home to evil wizards.
Additionally, Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor often disagreed on various issues, which included the reception of half-blood wizards, i.e., non-pure-blooded wizards. For this reason, the two lived in great conflict, trying to reach a consensus, given that Salazar believed that the school should not receive students who were not pure blood.

The disagreement between the two culminated in Salazar’s departure from the institution and started a constant fight between the Gryffindor and Slytherin students for countless generations.
Most Famous Slytherins
Throughout the narrative of the saga, readers are introduced to different characters representing Slytherin. As everyone knows from the beginning, Tom Riddle, who became Voldemort, had been sent by the Sorting Hat to Slytherin on account of all the characteristics pertaining to the House that were in keeping with his personality.
In Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the protagonist is almost sent to that House, given the connection he had with the Dark Lord. Despite this, Harry was sent to Gryffindor, along with Hermione Granger and Ronald Wesley.

As was to be expected, they all had a certain rivalry with Draco Malfoy, one of the antagonists of the saga, a member of Slytherin, as well as his father, Lucius Malfoy.
other curiosities
Despite direct rivalry with the members of Gryffindor, Slytherin’s relationship with the other Hogwarts Houses was quiet for the most part, including even the seven-year consecutive victories of its Quidditch team.
And while many of Slytherin’s members believe in their founder’s ideals regarding pure blood, many others are also opposed to this ideology. This is the case of Horace Slughorn, one of the Hogwarts headmasters of the past, and Andromeda Tonks, the mother of Nymphadora Tonks.
Did you like the text? Now that you know more about Slytherin, how about rereading the books from a new perspective?
