In some ways PS5 is worse than Xbox Series X – HDMI 2.1 port is limited to 32 Gb / s, and in Xbox Series X 40 Gb / s

YouTube host HDTVTest tested the bandwidth of the HDMI 2.1 port on the next-generation PlayStation 5 game console. He found that the connector is limited to 32 Gbps. At the same time, the Xbox Series X port gives out 40 Gb / s.
The test results can be seen in the video:
This means that when displaying a picture with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the PlayStation 5 will switch to 4: 2: 2 chroma downsampling, and the Xbox Series X will keep the optimal 4: 4: 4 format.
However, according to youtuber, regular gamers are unlikely to notice any difference. It is possible that it will be felt in games that run at 120 fps, but so far there are very few of them.
In addition, the limitation may well be software rather than hardware. If this is the case, then Sony will easily fix this issue with a PS5 firmware update in the future.
Previously, Time magazine ranked Xbox Series S and PS5 among the 100 Best Inventions of 2020.
