IKEA will stop selling disposable batteries next year

Published

The stores of the Swedish brand IKEA will stop selling disposable alkaline batteries. They will completely disappear from sale by October next year.

In this way, IKEA is going to stimulate customers to switch to rechargeable batteries and reduce waste. According to the company’s estimates, if batteries were purchased instead of 300 million disposable batteries, the amount of toxic waste would be reduced by 5 thousand tons.

We are on track to inspire people to live healthier and more sustainable lives on our planet. By phasing out alkaline batteries and focusing on our range of rechargeable batteries, we are taking this one step further by offering customers an affordable and convenient solution to extend the life of products and materials and reduce waste.
