If you have a laptop with LTE support, then you’re out of luck. Microsoft blocks Windows 10 update

Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 version 2004 major update is being blocked on some LTE cellular computers.

Windows 10 May 2020 Update originally had an extensive list of known issues to Microsoft, and its widespread adoption began relatively recently. Prior to this, Microsoft used block lists that prevented the update from propagating to systems with certain “problem” parameters.

As it turned out, not all problems were solved, and one of them concerns computers with LTE. This is reported in an updated Microsoft document.

According to the description, after waking up from sleep or hibernation mode, some WWAN LTE modems report no internet connection in the notification area and may be unable to connect to the internet.

For users who have already installed Windows 10 version 2004, a workaround is proposed: enable and then disable airplane mode.

Microsoft is already working on a full-fledged fix and plans to release it in late September.
