Hyundai unveiled the Electrified RM20e Racing Midship (RM20e) prototype electric sports car at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2020 in Beijing. It is based on the RM platform for the development of future N-branded vehicles. The design was reportedly inspired by a rear-wheel drive electrified Touring Car (TCR).

The RM20e is equipped with an electric motor with 596 kW (810 hp) and 960 Nm of torque. It is expected to go from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km / h in 9.88 seconds. The RM20e mid-engine prototype combines the power, balance, braking and traction of a racing car with the quietness and agility of a conventional car.

In 2012, Hyundai launched the RM project to develop the N models using new high-performance motorsport technologies. Since the launch of the project, a number of RM series models have been created, including: RM14, RM15, RM16 and RM19. In 2019, Hyundai’s first electric racing car for the eTCR series of electric touring vehicles was developed: the Veloster N eTCR, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

RM prototypes are being used to test advanced technologies, find ways to increase performance and improve them for use in future models of the Hyundai N.
