Hundreds of iPhones seized in Brazil

Brazil’s Justice Ministry ordered a suspension of iPhone sales in the country back in September this year after it concluded that Apple was harming consumers by not offering a power adapter with the device. However, even after millions of fines, the company still does not complete Brazilian (as well as any other, starting with the iPhone 12 model) smartphones with a charger. This led the Federal District Consumer Protection Regulator to confiscate iPhones from retail stores in Brazil. It is known that in the capital of Brazil, the city of Brasilia, hundreds of iPhones were withdrawn from sale, they were confiscated from the stores of operators and Apple authorized resellers.

By order of the regulator, it is forbidden to sell any iPhone model that does not have a charger included in the package. Thus, the authorities are trying to force the American company to comply with local laws that require smartphones to be supplied with a charger. After the iPhone began to be withdrawn from sale in Brazil, Apple’s subsidiary in the country asked the government to allow sales of the smartphone until a final court decision was made. Judge Diego Camara Alves allowed the company to sell the iPhone in the same configuration, that is, without a charger, until a court decision is made. The judge believes that consumer rights are not violated, but the Brazilian regulator is abusing its power. Apple, in turn, said that it is confident in winning the legal dispute and that buyers “are aware of the various options for charging and connecting their devices.”

This is not a photo, but screenshots from the video. Possibly one of the first reviews. But in any case, the phones are shown live for the first time. And in these pictures, the Xaiomi 13 with a flat side frame looks even more like the iPhone 14 than in the renders previously published on the Web. But Xiaomi 13 Pro has a narrower frame due to the curved screen (in Xiaomi 13 the screen will be flat).

Interestingly, there is no Leica logo on the body (in the camera unit), although the camera of these models should have been developed in collaboration with a German camera and optics manufacturer.

Foxconn simultaneously asked employees to leave “iPhone city” for $1400 and stay for even more rewards

Foxconn simultaneously asked employees to leave iPhone city for 1400

Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., said over the weekend that it will increase to more than $1,800 per month in December and January for permanent employees, including those who joined the company in November.

Foxconn’s generosity comes from the company’s desire to restore assembly as quickly as possible after weeks of Covid restrictions, culminating in last week’s riots. The Zhengzhou campus, which has more than 200,000 employees, assembles the vast majority of iPhone Pro models.

As we reported, the company offered each protester about $1,400 to quit and leave the plant. A Reuters source familiar with the situation confirmed that more than 20,000 workers agreed to Foxconn’s offer.

Foxconn simultaneously asked employees to leave

Apple said it is working closely with Foxconn to restore production to its previous pace, and both companies have expressed their commitment to keeping workers safe.

Earlier this month, analysts at Morgan Stanley slashed their estimates for the current-quarter iPhone Pro release by 6 million units. In a worst-case scenario, if extended lockdowns affect assembly in Zhengzhou, Foxconn risks losing up to 36% of iPhone revenue, or 20% of total sales for the quarter.

Previously known insider Ben Geskin posted a video showing clashes between workers and security at the Foxconn plant.
