Just a few days before the presentation, technical specifications and official press renders of the new flagship Huawei Mate 40 Pro appeared on the network. A detailed set of information was shared by the German edition of WinFuture, which has established itself as a reliable source and has previously published reliable leaks more than once.
Like its predecessor, the Mate 30 Pro, the Mate 40 Pro features a curved waterfall display (with heavily rounded edges). The diagonal of the panel has increased and is now 6.76 inches, OLED is used as a matrix, the resolution is 2772 × 1344 pixels (Full HD +). Whether a high refresh rate is supported is not specified. The fingerprint scanner is made using optical technology and is built into the display.
Under the hood of the Mate 40 Pro is probably the last flagship Huawei processor developed by TSMC before the ban by the US government – Kirin 9000. The chip is made using a 5-nanometer process technology using eight computing cores. The architecture consists of four ARM Cortex-A55 clocked at 2.04 GHz, three ARM Cortex-A77 clocked at 2.54 GHz, and an additional ARM Cortex-A77 clocked at 3.13 GHz. The graphics accelerator is the Mali-G78, and the Kirin 9000 also integrates a proprietary 5G modem with support for sub-6 GHz networks and a neural processing unit for AI processes.
Residents of European countries will receive the Mate 40 Pro in a configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage without the possibility of expanding the latter. In China, there will be a model with 12 GB of RAM. According to WinFuture, Huawei plans to release an even more advanced Mate 40 Pro + and a special edition Mate 40 RS in partnership with Porsche Design. They will differ not only in design, but also in the equipment of the main camera.
The regular Mate 40 Pro is equipped with a triple camera with a main 50-megapixel sensor, having an aperture of f / 1.9 and optical image stabilization. The second camera is a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor (f / 1.8 aperture), the third is a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f / 3.4 aperture. The system can record video at 8K resolution and offers 5x optical zoom. In addition, a new focusing technology based on a laser module and an auxiliary photosensor is reported.
Other features of the Huawei Mate 40 include:
- front camera 13 megapixels (f / 2.4);
- gesture control technology, hand movements are tracked by a special 3D sensor in the front;
- battery with a capacity of 4400 mAh with support for fast charging 65 W, a corresponding power adapter is supplied;
- support for reversible wireless charging;
- Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, proprietary nanoSD memory card;
- Android 10 operating system without Google services and applications, Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) is preinstalled in EMUI 11;
- dimensions: 162.9 × 75.5 × 9.1 mm, weight – 212 g.
In Europe, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro will be available in two colors: black and silver. Other color options are expected for China. Sales start date and prices are unknown.
