Huawei equipment could disrupt US ability to control nuclear triad

The FBI has found that Chinese telecommunications company Huawei’s equipment placed on cell towers in the Midwest is capable of disrupting the US Department of Defense’s communications, including with forces that control nuclear weapons.

CNN interviewed former and current FBI employees who spoke on condition of anonymity. “This could touch on some of the most sensitive things and affect our ability to essentially control the nuclear triad,” the FBI official said.

The sources confirmed that it is very difficult to gather evidence that any specific data was intercepted and sent to another country, so it is not clear if China was collecting data from its equipment.

The Chinese government denies trying to spy on the United States. In addition, when CNN asked for comment, Huawei denied that its products could operate within the range allocated to the Department of Defense.

The FBI’s investigation into Huawei equipment, reported by CNN, dates back to the Obama administration. Reuters reported on Thursday that the Joe Biden administration is investigating Huawei over concerns it poses a national security risk due to its equipment planted on cell towers near military bases.

The investigation was continued by the Department of Commerce shortly after President Joe Biden took office. The publication said it could not determine whether Huawei equipment is capable of collecting sensitive US national security information.

A technology for brewing cold coffee using a laser has

On hot days, many coffee lovers prefer cold brew coffee. It has a high caffeine content and good taste, but it has a drawback. Such a drink should be infused from 8 to 24 hours. But the development of scientists from the German University of Duisberg in Essen allows you to speed up the procedure at times.

A technology for brewing cold coffee using a laser has been developed

The researchers used a laboratory laser, tuned to give pulses of 125 picojoules for 10 picoseconds. After that, the laser pulse was passed through a mixture of ground coffee and water for about three minutes. According to the source, the beam passes through the drink up to 80,000 times per second.

The result is a coffee that is in no way inferior to the classic cold brew, but brews much faster. At the same time, the acidity index (one of the characteristics of coffee) does not differ much from the traditional method of preparation, and the caffeine level turned out to be closer to ordinary hot coffee.

At the same time, scientists argue that “laser” coffee can be improved if it is brewed in this way for a few more minutes. It will be more flavorful and high in caffeine.

The team has high hopes for the commercialization of the technology and plans to work on mass-produced laser coffee brewing systems for coffee shop use.
