The general director of Huawei Consumer Business and concurrently the executive director of Huawei, Richard Yu, has published an invitation to the event dedicated to the announcement of the flagship smartphones of the Mate 40 series on Weibo. In addition to the invitation itself, which does not carry any informational load, a short advertising video with an eye (or iris of the eye) also appeared on the network. Again, nothing special, but many are hinting at the fact that the Mate 40 series of smartphones will make significant advances in terms of the camera, in particular the sensor with a telephoto lens.

According to early leaks, the series will consist of three models: the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro +. There is information on what to expect and a special version of the Mate 40 Porsche Design. Fairly detailed images of the Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro have already leaked online, although their authenticity has not been confirmed. Upcoming new items will receive heavily curved displays with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, dual front cameras and support for 66 W fast charging.

In terms of hardware, all smartphones will be powered by the proprietary Kirin 9000 platform – the first 5nm chipset with an integrated 5G modem. At the same time, it may turn out to be the last flagship single-chip Kirin system due to production restrictions associated with US sanctions. It is rumored that this is the reason why the Mate 40 smartphones will be delayed until next year.

As for the camera, it will have four sensors located in a large circular block. The main one will receive a resolution of 108 megapixels. The other three are a 5x optical zoom periscope type sensor, an ultra wide-angle lens module and a ToF sensor.
