Hitman 3 recouped development costs in a week of sales

Hitman 3 launched last week paid off in less than seven days. The head of the IO Interactive studio Hakan Abrak told about this.

“We are very happy with the results of Hitman 3. It was a collaboration with our fans. As developers and publishers, we are immensely proud that Hitman 3 is already making a profit. We recouped the total project costs in less than a week. This allows us to move forward in the implementation of our plans for future projects “, – reported Abrak.

Hitman 3 was the first full-fledged game to be self-published by the studio. Abrak said that part of IO Interactive’s success is due to the close collaboration between development and marketing. Thanks to this, the developers managed to better control the progress of the game.

“This combination has made us very effective as a publisher because our creative and development teams work closely with the publishing and marketing departments throughout the project. We need such cooperation because we all want to create a quality product. ”

The game was released on January 20 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC; in addition, a cloud version is available on Google Stadia and Nintendo Switch. The average rating for a title on the Metacritic review aggregator is 87 out of 100 from critics and 6.5 / 10 from users.

Previously, the developers of the game promised that both the PC version of the game and the Xbox Series S / X version will support ray tracing technology.

“The hardware ray-tracing support for Series X | S graphics chips is great. We have already begun work on introducing this technique into our Glacier engine, and when the function is ready, it will appear on these consoles, ”said IOI CTO Maurizio de Pascale.

The feature will be available as a planned update.

Sales of Xbox and Microsoft games sank. The company reported for the next financial quarter

The company’s revenue rose 2% to $52.7 billion, while net income fell 12% to $16.4 billion.

This is far from Microsoft’s best quarter. These results are due to several reasons. First, there is a decline in revenue from manufacturers of laptops with Windows and PC sales in the market as a whole. Secondly, sales of Microsoft devices sank by a considerable 39%.

Also not the best way to feel in the last quarter and the gaming division of the company. In general, the Xbox division was marked by a decrease in revenue. Game sales fell by 13%, hardware sales fell by the same amount, that is, primarily consoles, and revenue from services and services decreased by 12%.

At the same time, Microsoft notes the further growth of the Game Pass service, but, as always, does not name the number of users and revenue.
