“Historic flight went exactly as planned.” The world’s first commercial electric aircraft began to operate

Harbor Air has taken a significant step forward with a first-of-its-kind flight using a De Havilland Beaver commercial electric aircraft.

The De Havilland Beaver flew from the Canadian mainland to Vancouver Island using an all-electric powertrain, demonstrating the viability of its cleaner approach to short-haul flights.

Harbor Air is the largest airline in North America that operates seaplanes. It claims to carry about half a million passengers annually on 30,000 commercial flights. In 2019, it pledged to become the world’s first all-electric airline. This vision involves the modernization of the fleet of existing six-seater seaplanes with electric propulsion.

These systems are created through a partnership with MagniX, which has made significant strides with its powerful electric motors and is collaborating with other ambitious companies in the aviation industry.

In December 2019, a modified De Havilland Beaver took off for a short flight over the Fraser River at Harbor Air Terminal in Richmond, British Columbia. The company has since continued this test program with an eye to certification and approval of the aircraft by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada.

On August 17, the company’s electric aircraft made its first point-to-point test flight. The plane took off at 8:12 a.m. from the Fraser River Terminal and landed 24 minutes later in Patricia Bay on Vancouver Island, making the 72-kilometer journey solely on electricity, and reportedly with ample power.

“I am delighted to report that this historic flight went exactly as planned,” said Corey Paul, vice president of Harbor Air. “Our team, as well as the magniX team and Transport Canada, always keep a close eye on the performance of the aircraft, and today’s flight once again proved the safety and reliability of what we have built.”

Tesla Optimus humanoid robot will cost less than 20000 Specifications

As we already reported, yesterday Elon Musk presented a fresh prototype of the Optimus humanoid robot, details of which were published by Slashgear.

The robot is able to move all fingers independently, and there are sensors in the fingers for feedback and control of the grip force. The robot will be able to keep track of what it is holding. The arms have 27 degrees of freedom, the body – more than 200. At the same time, the robot weighs about 73 kg and consumes 100 watts in a sitting position and 500 watts when walking.

The heart of Optimus is a single-chip system developed by Tesla. He received Wi-Fi and LTE modules for a permanent connection to the Web. The 2.4 kWh battery is also designed by Tesla and is built into the Optimus’ chest.

The charge is expected to last a full day, though it’s unclear at this stage how much work the Optimus can handle. Elon Musk acknowledged that Tesla still has a lot of work to do to improve and refine the Optimus.

However, the Tesla CEO is enthusiastic about the potential: “Our goal is to build a useful humanoid robot as soon as possible. We plan to produce robots in large volumes, with low cost and high reliability.”

The biggest surprise is pricing, where Musk is very ambitious: “It’s expected to cost a lot less than a car.” Probably less than $20,000 is my guess. This is significantly less than even the cheapest Tesla car.”

Musk said the robot’s knee joint is inspired by human knees. Tesla also conducts crash tests, similar to those its cars go through, to make sure that any damage to the robot from a fall will only be superficial.

I have expensive cars I play golf and caress women

Apple chief executive Tony Blevins, the company’s vice president of purchasing, is leaving the firm after a rude comment left on the social media platform TikTok.

Daniel Mack, who creates content for TikTok and Instagram, asked Blevins what he does for a living. Mac is a popular tiktoker asking this question to people who drive expensive cars. Blevins was driving a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren valued at $500,000.

Tony Blevins’ answer ended up being the reason for his dismissal: “I have expensive cars, I play golf and caress women with large breasts. But I take weekends and holidays.” The video was recorded at the California Auto Show on August 18 and posted to social media in early September. The 25-second clip got 40,000 likes on Instagram and about 142,000 likes on TikTok. It has been viewed over 1.4 million times.

After Apple became aware of the incident, the company launched an internal investigation, during which Blevins was removed from managing his team of hundreds of Apple employees. An Apple spokesperson told Bloomberg that Blevins is leaving Apple. He issued a statement in which he apologized for his comment: “I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to everyone who was offended by my misguided attempt at humor.”

He was forced to leave Apple after working for the company for 22 years. Blevins was one of 30 top Apple executives who report directly to CEO Tim Cook. His job was to negotiate with suppliers to keep their prices low. He has also worked with contract manufacturers such as Foxconn, Pegatron, and other third-party firms that make Apple products.
