Hackers accessed data on Panasonic job applicants

In November of last year, Panasonic confirmed that hackers accessed information from the company’s internal servers and stole data. This past Friday (7), it was confirmed that malicious individuals stole personal information from company job applicants and internships.

Apparently, the hacker attack was not carried out only for this purpose, however, the information of people who applied for vacancies in the company was accessed during the occasion. Panasonic said it is already reaching out to those affected — they did not reveal the number of candidates impacted by the flaw.

In addition, criminals also accessed important files with information related to the company’s business and partners. In a statement, Panasonic said it had already taken steps to increase security and prevent further similar situations.

The data breach started on the 22nd of June but was not detected until the 11th of November. Internal investigations point out that a malicious individual illegally accessed one of the servers in Japan using the server of a subsidiary in another country.

According to Panasonic, shortly after detecting the intrusion, additional security countermeasures were implemented to strengthen local access control of servers in other countries.

The launch of the new PS Plus will take place on May 24 in Asia, then it will be available in Japan on June 2, after June 13 North and South America will be connected, and in other markets the service will become available on June 27.

The Central Bank proposed a mechanism for recalling bank transfers to fraudsters

The Central Bank proposed a mechanism for recalling bank transfers

Director of the information security department of the Central Bank Vadim Uvarov said that the Central Bank proposed to introduce a two-day “cooling off period” during which it would be possible to withdraw the transfer if it was made to a fraudulent account.

The Central Bank maintains a special database that contains information about dropper accounts used to withdraw and subsequently cash out stolen funds. The Central Bank wants to oblige banks to suspend transfers to accounts for two days, information about which is contained in the Central Bank database.

We propose to introduce a certain “cooling off period”, which will allow you to save and not transfer money to scammers. Currently, by law, a transaction must be completed within three business days. Thus, banks do not violate the rights of our citizens.

The receiving bank must check the transaction for signs of fraud. If a credit institution notices that money is being transferred to an account contained in the Central Bank database, then it should have the right to suspend the access of the owner of such an account to remote servicing.

According to the Central Bank, in the first quarter of 2022, 90 thousand fraudulent numbers and 1.3 thousand phishing sites were sent for blocking. In 2022, there is a serious increase in the number of illegal transactions using the fast payment system (FPS). In March, the number of such incidents increased several times.
