Developer PinkyDev has revealed that the game, codenamed Codename: Loop, which is a spin-off of the Half-Life shooter, has received permission from Valve to be placed on Steam in the near future.
The main protagonist of Codename: Loop is the protagonist of the Half-Life series, Gordon Freeman. The project will combine an isometric shooter and roguelike elements. The project is expected to be released this year.
An important point of Codename: Loop is its compatibility with the original Half-Life BSP file format. This allows Codename: Loop to take advantage of the GoldSrc engine while maintaining the look and feel of Half-Life in the Unity engine. Codename: Loop also features third-person views and a classic first-person view for fans who want to create FPS-style levels. BSP compatibility enhances the potential of Codename: Loop to support the modding community, as level designers can use existing tools to create maps and campaigns in Codename: Loop.
Keeping the classic spirit of Half-Life alive is a top priority for PinkyDev, who wrote in the project’s latest update: “I will do my best to support the Steam Workshop so everyone can share campaigns and levels and support this game forever.”
GeForce GTX 1060 finally retires. GTX 1650 tops Steam stats, though it depends how you count it
The Steam stats have been updated, and there are tangible changes again.
The GeForce GTX 1650 knocked the GTX 1060 off its pedestal in one big leap to become the most popular 3D gaming card… if you just look at the table.
Recall that with the release of the RTX 30 line in Steam statistics, mobile and desktop cards of this generation began to be displayed separately, while before that they were all displayed together under one name. Thus, the GTX 1650 takes 6.27%, and the RTX 3060, if you add the mobile and desktop versions, takes 8.04%, so the RTX 3060 is the most popular video card among Steam gamers, and will probably remain so for more for a very long time.
Returning to the castling in the table, the GTX 1060 has been in first place for the last couple of years, if not more, but this card has not been on sale for a long time, and the GTX 1650 is still available. In just one month, the newer card gained 0.66 percentage points while the GTX 1060 lost 1.85 percentage points for some reason. By the way, the RTX 2060 also sank very strongly (by 1.46 p.p.), and the share of the desktop RTX 3060 fell by 2.06 p.p., which is very strange.
In terms of processors, AMD’s share jumped 3.88 percentage points over the month to 32.87%. The most popular on Steam are six-core CPUs with a share of 33.52%, the share of processors with four cores is 30.07%, and eight-core processors occupy 19.19%.
“This is a true continuation of Dead Space”, “The best horror game of the year”, the horror movie The Callisto Protocol went on sale
The Callisto Protocol, a sci-fi action horror game created by Striking Distance Studios, went on sale today.
At the same time, reviews of Western publications appeared on the network, which were collected on the Metacritic aggregator. Over 60 reviews have already been published for all versions, including 37 articles for the PlayStation 5, which received 76 points out of 100 possible. The PC and Xbox versions received 75 points each.
In general, the game is praised for its atmosphere, modern graphics, high-quality animation, combat system with new dodge mechanics, but criticized for the lack of scary moments, low variety of enemies, clichéd story and technical problems on PC.
Below are quotes from reviews of various publications:
The Callisto Protocol is the true sequel to Dead Space that we never had, and Glen Scofield had to return to the horror genre.
Jeux Actu (90/100)
The Callisto Protocol gave me nightmares. This is the best horror game of the year and a bright new contender in the survival horror genre.
The Callisto Protocol, for all its tension, cannot hide the horrors within.
Bloody and grim, The Callisto Protocol doesn’t go against the horror formula, but instead uses all of its beats and clichés to tell a dark sci-fi story laced with menace.
PC Gamer (79/100)
A fantastic looking game that builds a great sci-fi world only to destroy it with nasty combat missions.
