Google works to increase the lifespan of laptops and PCs
And for this she acquired company Neverware, which specializes in turning old laptops and desktops into gadgets, similar Chromebook.
Now for an explanation. Chromebooks are a line of devices that run Chrome OS. The main distinguishing feature is that gadgets use the Google Chrome browser to perform their tasks, while most applications and data are in the cloud, not on the device. Devices of this type run on the Linux-based Chrome OS operating system, are less demanding on hardware and can work for decades.
And now the news itself. Neverware, which was acquired by Google, takes old PCs, including laptops and desktops, and turns them into Chromebook-like devices, without going into details. In other words, it gives devices new life. The Google specialists seemed to like this approach and decided to buy the company. As a result, old laptops, tablets, and PCs do not need to be sent to a landfill or paid for disposal. And schools receive old, but functioning devices in sufficient volume and at low cost. Everyone is happy.

WhatsApp will introduce a feature of video calls “for the shy”. You can replace yourself with an avatar

WhatsApp messenger will soon have a curious feature that will allow you to make video calls using an avatar.
That is, your interlocutor during a video call will not see you, but your avatar. This is similar to how Memoji/Bitmoji works.
How exactly the avatar will look like is not yet clear, but there is a screenshot showing a button to switch to such a mode. In addition, it will be possible to send your avatars to chats in the form of stickers. The avatars themselves can be created independently in a special editor.
The function has already been found in the software code, but it is not yet available even in beta mode. There is no release date for the feature either, although it is noted that it will initially appear on Android.

Elon, are you okay? The head of Tesla abruptly stopped posting anything on Twitter

Elon Musk celebrated the milestone of 100 million followers on the social network Twitter in an uncharacteristic way for him: he did not write anything about this at all.
Many have already noticed that the billionaire, who recently was about to acquire Twitter and regularly left a lot of interesting and not very messages on the social network, has not published anything on the social network for the ninth day in a row. His last post was related to the next increase in gasoline prices in the US, he was made on June 21.
In the five weeks leading up to June 16, Elon Musk averaged 145 tweets and retweets per week, or about 21 per day. On June 16, an open letter signed by SpaceX employees was released, describing Musk’s tweets as “a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment.”
Some of those who signed the letter were immediately fired, but Musk’s tweets plummeted, and after June 21, he stopped posting anything on the social network.
