Google will again copy a feature from Microsoft to make Chrome extensions more manageable

Published

Google is working on a new feature that will allow users to disable certain extensions in the Chrome browser for a specific site. The fact is that some of the extensions can cause malfunctions of the site, prevent it from loading, and so on. On the other hand, a number of sites do not load if the user has ad blocking enabled.

Chrome currently allows you to disable extensions for all websites, but disabling for one specific resource is not supported at the browser level. Note that the ability to selectively disable is in some extensions, but not all.

The mention of this possibility was discovered by a Reddit user under the nickname Leopeva64-2. So far, it is known that in future updates Chrome will add a redesigned extensions menu, which will include such functionality. However, it is not yet clear when it will appear in the release, although it is already available in beta.

Note that this feature is clearly not ready yet, since there is no list of extensions in the menu, and although the switch is pressed, it does nothing. Apparently, the corresponding code will be added later.

It is noteworthy that such a function has been in Microsoft Egde since April 2022. Looks like the search giant is copying new features from the authors of Windows again.

Earlier it became known that new versions of Chrome will be released with caution.

Windows 11 build released with 2 GB of RAM and

Third-party company NTDEV has unveiled a modification of Windows 11 called Tiny11. This is a light version of Windows 11 Pro 22H2, from which everything superfluous was removed, including the Microsoft Edge browser. At the same time, it left a calculator, notepad, Paint, terminal, Microsoft Store and features for people with disabilities.

The main feature of the assembly is reduced system requirements. If the regular Windows 11 Pro 22H2 requires 4 GB of RAM and at least 24 GB of disk space (official requirements say 64 GB), then the lite version is 2 GB and 8 GB, respectively. That is, it will work fine even on relatively weak PCs and laptops.

At the same time, the developers of the modification stated that this is not a hacked version, for activation you need to buy a license key from Microsoft or official partners. You can download the assembly here.

Microsoft has not yet responded to such experiments, so it is unclear whether they will prohibit such modifications.

Earlier it was reported that the company began to “spam” ads for Windows 11, displaying it in full screen, and it is difficult to refuse the installation.
