Google Maps now shows air quality and fire information
The Google Maps app wants to help you breathe fresh air, which is what the next update for Android and iOS is dedicated to. The app tells you how good the air is in your area, so you can make an informed decision about whether to go outside, and if so, for how long.
You’ll see AQI or air quality index numbers, as well as recommendations for outdoor activities, the date the information was last updated, and links to more information.
The data comes from trusted government agencies, including the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The maps also show air quality information from PurpleAir, a low-cost network that can give you a local view of conditions. To add this air quality layer to the map, tap the button in the top right corner of your phone screen, then select Air Quality under Map Details. Information from PurpleAir is also available on Nest’s displays and speakers.
In the US, a wildfire layer is also available as wildfire season approaches. Thanks to Google’s partnership with the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), this allows you to see detailed information about active fires in any area. For large wildfires, you can also simply search for “wildfires near me” and the relevant data will be displayed along with air quality information. “In the coming months,” Google search will also add US smoke data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Nubia Z60 Ultra will refute the thesis about the uselessness of ultra-wide-angle cameras in smartphones

The Nubia brand today published details about the camera of the future flagship Nubia Z60 Ultra. In particular, we are talking about its module with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
With its new flagship, Nubia will try to “refute the theory that wide-angle cameras are useless.” This refers to photo quality: modules with ultra-wide-angle lenses are equipped with low-quality optics, low-resolution sensors and small optical formats, and all this naturally leads to the fact that the photo quality of the ultra-wide-angle camera is much inferior to the photo quality of the main camera.
But this will not happen in the Nubia Z60 Ultra: the corresponding module will have a fast (F/1.8) 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch optical format sensor, complemented by an eight-element lens and an optical stabilization system. In general, this model will have triple OIS – in each of the three modules.
The official premiere of Nubia Z60 Ultra will take place on December 19. The smartphone will receive Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6000 mAh battery and IP68 protection.
