Google Lens can now automatically translate texts in screenshots

Published

on

As reported by 9to5Google, Google Lens has a new handy feature. You can now take a screenshot of the foreign test screen and let Google Lens translate without any intermediate steps.

The new feature is available in the Google Lens Screenshot UI for devices that run the Android 11 operating system. The translate button becomes visible in the screenshot and can be clicked to quickly locate and translate text.

In addition to translating the text, you can also copy the text in the screenshot, which can then be downloaded for offline access or shared on social networks such as Twitter or Instagram. Users can quickly send a screenshot to the full Google Translate app.

It is not yet known if this feature will work on devices running Android 10 and older versions of this operating system.

Google Lens was first introduced at Google I / O 2017. It is an image recognition tool that was first integrated with Google Assistant on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Later in 2018, it was integrated with Google Photos for both Pixels and other Android devices. Google Lens was released as a standalone app in the Play Store in June 2018 and has over 500 million downloads as of January this year.
