Google has released an urgent update to the proprietary Chrome browser for Windows, macOS and Linux. The update closes two zero-day vulnerabilities actively exploited by cybercriminals, as well as five more simpler vulnerabilities.
We are talking about vulnerabilities labeled CVE-2021-38000 and CVE-2021-38003. The first of these, CVE-2021-38000, is described as “Insufficient validation of untrusted input in intents.” This vulnerability was discovered by Clement Lesigne, Neil Mehta and Maddie Stone of the Google Threat Analysis Group on September 15, 2021.
So far, neither Google nor security researchers have provided further information on how attackers exploited vulnerabilities in attacks. Since these two vulnerabilities have been actively exploited, all Chrome users are advised to manually update or restart their browser to install the latest version.
Linux kernel code already knows about AMD 96-core processors
The latest Linux kernel patch has received the first confirmation of the existence of AMD processors with 96 cores.
More precisely, it talks about the new AMD Family 19h 10h-1Fh and A0h-AFh CPUs, which can contain up to 12 chiplets. Recall that each chiplet currently contains eight cores.
The code does not indicate which processors this information applies to, but, of course, we are not talking about consumer Ryzen. In this case, we are dealing with either server-side Epyc or Threadripper. And with regard to the former, everything agrees with the data of AMD itself.
Recall that the company recently talked about the Epyc Genoa processors on the Zen 4 architecture, which will just have up to 96 cores. As a result, we now know that the new Epyc chiplets will still contain eight cores, but the number of chiplets will increase. And in Bergamo processors, their number should reach 16 at all, if AMD does not change the chiplets for these CPUs.
WhatsApp Web Now Allows You to Create Your Own Stickers
WhatsApp Web has a new built-in sticker maker that lets you upload your own images and convert them into stickers that you can send to your contacts. To do this, you just need to click the attachment icon (paperclip), click Sticker, and then select the image.
A number of editing tools are provided to help you transform your original image into the sticker you want. These editing tools include emojis that can be pasted over a sticker, custom text, advanced cropping tools, and even the ability to add more images over the original.
The Sticker Maker custom feature is currently only available on WhatsApp Web, but coming soon to desktop apps as well. It is not yet known when the feature will be released on Android and iOS, but it can be expected.
WhatsApp has been working on improving its app for a long time and has introduced a number of new features in just the past few months. These include new security features such as instant calls and message complaints, the ability to hide the last visit from certain contacts, and even functionality that allows you to use WhatsApp on multiple devices without connecting to your smartphone.
Skoda Luniaq lunar rover presented with transparent aluminum windows and six wheels
During the Czech Space Week, Xtend Design unveiled the Luniaq lunar rover, inspired by the Skoda Enyaq.
This electric rover will be able to carry up to four astronauts. Luniaq will be built on the NASA MMSEV (Multi-Mission Space Exploration Vehicle) platform, which has already been used to build other lunar rovers.
The Luniaq will receive large windows that allow it to assess the situation with a 180-degree viewing angle. Moreover, the windows are made not of glass, but of transparent aluminum, which is also more resistant to micrometeorites than glass. Layers of polyethylene add extra protection against radiation, and a lower front window allows drivers to view the moon’s surface directly in front of the vehicle.
The Luniaq will be equipped with stereoscopic cameras to scan the area and acquire 3D images, allowing for remote control of the vehicle. Michelin Tweel technology will be used to make large soft wheels.
Sustainable development can enable us to keep moving forward and expand the biosphere to other places in space. We would like to inspire people on how we could continue to progressively develop our technologies and one day live and travel in places other than Earth. Humanity is technically advanced enough that it becomes just a matter of our motivation and funding. A new era of electric mobility could continue throughout the solar system and beyond.
