Google has just started selling its first smart watch, the Pixel Watch, and the first customer reviews have begun to appear online. And they brought a surprise – users discovered an officially undeclared feature of the Pixel Watch.
Considering the price of the watch, many expected it to get support for wireless charging. However, Google says the Pixel Watch does not support wireless charging and can only be charged using the proprietary magnetic charger included in the box.
However, some early Pixel Watch buyers have reported that the watch can actually be charged wirelessly using the reverse charge feature on select smartphones, Qi chargers, and Qi-enabled portable batteries.
However, Google still claims that the watch does not officially support wireless charging. In response to a recent post on Reddit, a Google expert replied:
Wireless charging is not supported on Google Pixel Watch. There may be some charging configurations where reverse wireless or Qi charging works. However, the result will greatly depend on the specific smartphone and charger, and does not guarantee stable, stable or correct charging. Please note that in some cases this can lead to the gadget being discharged during “charging”. For best results, you should always use the charger that came with your watch.”
