Google develops AI that can play Pac-Man and other arcade games
Google’s DeepMind unit trains artificial intelligence and builds mathematical models. So, in 2018, DeepMind introduced the AI AlphaZero, which in 4 hours of self-study was able to defeat Stockfish, which was considered the best AI for chess. However, progress does not stand still and DeepMind introduced a new version of AI called MuZero.
MuZero is a kind of evolution of AlphaZero. The fact is that AlphaZero is very good in cases where there are certain rules of the game, for example, in chess, go or shogi. AlphaZero uses a binary tree scheduling model. That is, the algorithm calculates all possible outcomes of any action in the game (a kind of tree branches) and chooses a winning strategy. However, in cases where the environment is dynamic, AlphaZero no longer showed such efficiency.
This is exactly the problem that the new AI MuZero solves. MuZero’s model is based on a preliminary tree search, but also knows how to “predict” changes in the environment. For training, a model-based reinforcement algorithm was used. In other words, MuZero “sees” what is happening in the game and “makes a decision” based on this data.
MuZero has been tested in both classic games like chess, shogi and go, as well as arcade games from the Atari collection. According to DeepMind, AI has achieved the highest levels of performance that no other agent could ever have.
The graph on the right shows MuZero’s performance in a Pac-Man game with 5 to 50 possible simulations. MuZero’s performance grows exponentially as the number of available “plans” increases. The graph on the left shows the ratio of the strength of MuZero’s go to the amount of time it takes to move. The Real Simulator graph is the AI of AlphaZero. And while the latter’s game strength increases with the amount of time, MuZero is initially stronger than AlphaZero with less time available for planning.
Thus, DeepMind opens up new possibilities for the reinforcement learning algorithm. In the future, MuZero will be able to pave the way for solving many problems, for example, in the field of robotics, medicine or in the industrial segment, where the clear “rules of the game” are unknown.

Incredible CPU performance or super powerful iGPU. Ryzen 7000 mobile processor details revealed

The new generation of mobile Ryzen 7000 processors will be much more impressive than their predecessors than the desktop ones, according to recent data.
We are talking about a line of APUs called Dragon Range. Processors in this line will be labeled as Ryzen 70000HX. Now AMD also has such APUs, but they are not much different from other mobile high-end models. Dragon Range will be very different.
As you can see, the source says that within this line, AMD will finally launch processors with more than eight cores in the mobile segment. More specifically, the Ryzen 9 7980HX will have 16 cores, the Ryzen 9 7900HX will have 12 cores, the Ryzen 7 7800HX will have 8 cores, and the Ryzen 5 7600HX will have 6 cores. That is, these APUs will be as similar as possible to desktop ones. True, AMD’s Ryzen mobile processors have always had a monolithic crystal, and that is why they were maximum eight-core. It turns out that Dragon Range will be chiplet. Perhaps, physically, these will be the same desktop APUs, only with reduced power limits. For example, the source indicates the maximum frequencies in the range of 4.8-5.0 GHz or slightly higher. In addition, such APUs will receive iGPUs with 256 stream processors.
AMD will also have a Phoenix line with Ryzen 7000HS processors. These APUs will be more familiar with six to eight cores. The Ryzen 9 7980HS, Ryzen 9 7900HS, and Ryzen 7 7800HS will each have eight cores, while the Ryzen 5 7600HS will have six. In this case, the former will receive an iGPU with 1536 stream processors, and the latter will have a core with 768 stream processors.
The older iGPU, as previously stated and according to the source, will operate at frequencies of 2.6-3.0 GHz, which will provide incredible performance for the integrated graphics core – 9.2 TFLOPS. This could be the level of the mobile GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q.
Despite the smaller number of processor cores, such APUs can also be chiplet-based. The source believes that there will be three crystals: a processor, an iGPU, and some kind of chiplet associated with the memory subsystem. Perhaps it will be Infinity Cache memory.

Dimensity 9000+/Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2, 200W, LTPO 2K 120Hz. First images of iQOO 10

Chinese insider Ice Universe, who leaked a lot of reliable information about different smartphones, has published the first images of the iQOO 10 smartphone.
In this line, the manufacturer uses the design that we have already seen in Pixel and Poco smartphones. The back is divided into two parts, which are made of different materials.
Today we already reported that iQOO 10 will be the first phone based on Dimensity 9000+. In addition, a version based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 will also be available to customers.
iQOO 10 will use a side-curved LTPO 2K screen with 120Hz refresh rate support and a large-area ultrasonic fingerprint under the screen. The main camera will be 50 megapixels.
The iQOO 10 is also expected to support 200W ultra-fast charging technology, which will fully charge the battery in just 12 minutes.
Ice Universe was one of the first to talk about smartphones with waterfall screens, about the notch in the iPhone X, about the new design of the iPhone 14 and about Samsung’s 200-megapixel image sensor.

Tomorrow NASA will launch the Capstone spacecraft to the moon. It will allow to calculate the orbit for the future American lunar station Gateway

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration has postponed the launch of the Capstone spacecraft from June 27 to June 28. The reason for the postponement of the launch is to conduct a “final check of the systems” of the launch.
Capstone should help calculate the orbit for the future lunar station Gateway. The spacecraft weighing about 25 kg is planned to be launched from Rocket Lab’s spaceport in New Zealand. NASA believes that Capstone will reach the goal in three months and spend at least six months in orbit. The space department indicates that the Capstone trajectory scheme is such that the device will arrive in its lunar orbit on November 13, regardless of the launch date “in the current period” – which is any day before July 27.
