Goodbye Windows 7 and macOS users. Samsung to end DeX support for specified and older operating systems

Published

on

Samsung unexpectedly announced the end of support for the DeX feature for Windows 7 and older versions of the OS, as well as for macOS. The new restrictions will come into force early next year.

Since even Windows 7 has a large market share, not to mention macOS, the situation will clearly affect a lot of users. However, fortunately for them, we are talking about the end of support, that is, such users will not receive updates for DeX. In this case, the function will continue to work. On the other hand, you won’t be able to re-install DeX on the negotiated systems.

If the situation with Windows 7 can be explained simply by the age of the system, then the abandonment of macOS is not very clear. Perhaps there are very few DeX users on this system, and Samsung decided not to spend energy on it.

That is, your interlocutor during a video call will not see you, but your avatar. This is similar to how Memoji/Bitmoji works.

How exactly the avatar will look like is not yet clear, but there is a screenshot showing a button to switch to such a mode. In addition, it will be possible to send your avatars to chats in the form of stickers. The avatars themselves can be created independently in a special editor.

The function has already been found in the software code, but it is not yet available even in beta mode. There is no release date for the feature either, although it is noted that it will initially appear on Android.

Elon Musk celebrated the milestone of 100 million followers on the social network Twitter in an uncharacteristic way for him: he did not write anything about this at all.

Many have already noticed that the billionaire, who recently was about to acquire Twitter and regularly left a lot of interesting and not very messages on the social network, has not published anything on the social network for the ninth day in a row. His last post was related to the next increase in gasoline prices in the US, he was made on June 21.
