Global Semiconductor Materials Market Grows 15.9% in 2021 to Hit Record $64.3B
The revenue of manufacturers operating in the global market for materials for semiconductor products in 2021 grew by 15.9%, to $64.3 billion. This is a record value. The previous record – $55.5 billion – was set in 2020. This data comes from SEMI, a global industry association for electronics manufacturers and the supply chain of materials and components.
The segment of materials related to the manufacture of directly semiconductor products amounted to $40.4 billion, and the segment of materials related to their packaging – $23.9 billion. Growth in these segments was 15.5% and 16.5%, respectively.
“The global semiconductor materials market posted exceptional growth in 2021, driven by strong, consistent chip demand and industry capacity expansion,” said Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI. “All regions recorded double-digit or high single-digit growth last year as they strive to meet the demand for electronics as digital transformation continues at a rapid pace.”
Taiwan remains the world’s largest consumer of semiconductor materials for the 12th consecutive year. In 2021, an indicator of $14.7 billion was recorded here, which is 15.7% higher than in 2020. Mainland China in 2021 showed the largest growth compared to the previous year – 21.9%, in absolute terms equal to $11.9 billion, coming in second place. Third place with 10.6 billion dollars was retained by South Korea, which showed an increase of 15.9%. Japan accounts for $8.8 billion, and growth here is 11.5%. North America’s figures are $6.0 billion and 8.5, Europe – $4.4 billion and 21.9%.

DJI is preparing a new “racing drone” Avata with a quality camera at the level of Mini 3 Pro

DJI recently introduced the Mini 3 Pro compact drone, and soon another compact FPV class model (the so-called “racing drone”) will appear in the company’s range. The source says what is called the new Avata.
Visually Avata is very different from DJI FPV. We can say that conceptually these are completely different models. Avata’s outdoor design makes it more suitable for indoor use.
Together with a radically redesigned design, significantly improved photo and video quality is also promised: it is expected to be at the level of the Mini 3 Pro. The third important feature is improved autonomy. The weight of the novelty will be about 500 grams, along with it, DJI is likely to introduce a new system for controlling the FPV drone. The premiere of Avata is expected in the summer.
