Give me the internal combustion engine. The next generations of Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport will not be electric cars

Published

Even though Volkswagen is moving toward electric vehicles, the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport still run on internal combustion engines. According to Automotive News, these models may retain the internal combustion engine in the next generation.

The publication claims that Volkswagen will update the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport models by 2026. It’s worth noting that Volkswagen only unveiled the 2024 Atlas in February 2023, with the cars recently arriving at dealerships. So, most likely, in 2026 there will be a presentation of new products that will go on sale in 2027.

The current versions of the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport replace the four-cylinder and V6 engines with a single new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 269 hp. and 370 Nm of torque. It spins either the front wheels or all four via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The manufacturer claims that new cars are 5-10% more economical in terms of fuel consumption.

Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function is standard on the IQ Drive suite of driver assistance technologies. Higher versions also now come with Brake Assist and Steering Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with steering assist with lane centering and improved predictive logic.

The dashboard features a new standard 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display and a 12-inch infotainment display.

According to statistics, the Atlas is the second best-selling vehicle in VW’s lineup in 2022, so interest in the SUV remains strong.

Cool concept sports car Hyundai N Vision 74 may turn into a production model

Cool concept sports car Hyundai N Vision 74 may turn

Hyundai has applied to register the designation N 74. Perhaps under this name the production version of the cool concept sports car Hyundai N Vision 74, shown in Busan at the N Day 2022 event in mid-July last year, will be released.

Cool concept sports car Hyundai N Vision 74 may turn into a production model

In general, rumors that the N Vision 74 will become a production model have been circulating since the beginning of the year. The reason for them was patents for elements of the power structure of the body and frameless doors. Production Hyundais do not have such doors, but the concept car does. And now there is another argument in favor of the fact that the N Vision 74 will become a production model.

True, if this happens, it will not be soon: according to preliminary data, the Hyundai N 74 will be released only in 2026. And it definitely will not receive a fuel cell power plant, with which the N Vision 74 was demonstrated: the production version will be purely electric, with elements borrowed from the Ioniq 5 N. Its power plant, we recall, includes two electric motors, and the total power is 609 hp

Noisy, windy and with turbo lag. The newest crossover Lexus TX 2024 passed its first test drive a few weeks before the start of sales

Noisy windy and with turbo lag The newest crossover

Introduced in the US this summer, the 2024 Lexus TX large crossover will go on sale locally this fall. It is not surprising that the Japanese have already conducted the first test drive of the new product for local journalists – they must “prepare the ground” before the start of sales. True, they chose a strange place for testing – the track of the Fuji Speedway race track: this is a completely alien “habitat” for a heavy family seven-seater car with a length of 5.16 meters.

We didn’t manage to drive much – only 15 laps, but this was enough to understand that the car’s sound insulation is not good (perhaps Lexus will still improve this point, since they brought prototypes for a test drive), there is strong understeer, and turbo lag is still noticeable (although not pronounced).

On the other side of the scale, there is a very spacious interior with seats in the third row that are suitable not only for children, but also for adults. And at the same time there is still enough space for small bags in the back. Another interesting point: despite the fact that prototypes were tested, the interior was very well put together.

In general, a sports car from a large crossover is so-so, but as a family car, the Lexus TX 2024 fully justified itself. Despite the fact that sales will start soon, retail prices have not yet been announced. The estimated price of the basic version is 54 thousand dollars, but top-end copies will be much more expensive. Journalists were given a Lexus TX 350 AWD with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine producing 275 hp for a test drive, but there will be more interesting versions: the hybrid TX 500h with 366 hp. and the TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid with a 3.5 liter V6 engine and 406 hp.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe received a bold, chopped redesign, but Hyundai decided to play it safe by developing the updated Tucson.

The first spy photos of the Hyundai Tucson 2025 show the crossover in camouflage, which, however, does not prevent us from seeing the new radiator grille with a thick mesh pattern. The direction indicators and daytime running lights are integrated into the radiator grille. There are changes, but the current version of the Hyundai Tucson is made in approximately the same style.

Spy photographers haven’t gotten a good look inside yet, but insiders say it will house an updated infotainment system. In addition, the car should receive advanced driver assistance systems.

The updated Tucson may have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an increased output of 191 hp. The range will also include hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants for improved performance and efficiency.
