Giant Starship rocket could go into space in 6 weeks. Elon Musk estimates launch success at 60%
After the first orbital launch of Starship, which ended in failure, SpaceX had more work to do: the data collected during the flight had to be analyzed and the necessary changes made so that the engines would no longer turn off during the flight (this was mainly the reason for the “planned destruction” of Starship in the spring).
Elon Musk has now announced on Twitter that the technical changes required for the flight will be completed in about 6 weeks. At the same time, the second launch of Starship may take place. However, Musk noted that there are “many variables beyond the control of SpaceX.” This probably applies to both the weather and the permission of the regulator, which must give permission for the launch.
“I think the likelihood is that [Starship] on the next flight will work – or go into orbit – much higher than on the previous [полете]. Maybe around 60%. It depends on how well we do with staging.“, he said, speaking on Twitter Spaces with Bloomberg reporter Ashley Vance.
