Get a GeForce RTX 3090 for $125? A Japanese store has launched a lottery that gives you the opportunity to get a top-end video card very cheaply.
Modern video cards, especially top-end ones, scare away with their price, but life in conditions of shortage leaves no other choice: you have to pay two or three times more for 3D accelerators. However, some video card manufacturers and sellers periodically launch various kinds of promotions, during which you can get the coveted video card either for free or for minimal money. The other day we already talked about the drawing of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in China, and now about the original lottery of the Japanese company.
Everything is very simple here: users are offered to buy a “blank box” for the equivalent of $125. In it, for sure, some kind of video card, but it is not known which one. This can be the GeForce RTX 3090 (however, by mistake of the seller, its memory capacity is indicated as 12 GB), and the Radeon RX 6900 XT, and the Radeon RX 6600 XT, and the GeForce RTX 1650. In general, there are many options, and which one is inside a particular boxes – only the user himself will know when unpacking.
We must pay tribute, the seller directly indicates that the probability of getting a video card of the GeForce RTX 30 or Radeon RX 6000 line is small – only 2%. Twice as likely (but still a measly 4%) to get a GeForce RTX 20 or Radeon RX 5000 graphics card. 8% chance to own a GeForce RTX 10 or Radeon RX 500 graphics card, 16% chance to get a GeForce RTX 900 or Radeon RX300 graphics card . So 30% were distributed, but what about the remaining 70%? This is a chance… get some other graphics card. Which one, one can only guess, but let’s hope that it will not be Riva TNT from 1998.
The store emphasizes that all video cards are genuine and worth their money, but goods purchased in this way cannot be returned or exchanged.

The Huawei Kirin 9000s platform is truly unique. It has a 12-core processor, although it’s far from record-breaking performance.

The Kirin 9000s platform continues to bring surprises, although smartphones based on it have been on sale for some time.
After the latest Huawei flagships received HarmonyOS 4.0.0.116, Geekbench software began to define the characteristics of the new SoC differently. If earlier it was seen as an eight-core solution, now the number of processor cores is indicated as 12.
It’s worth remembering here that AnTuTu initially determined that the platform had exactly 12 cores, however, including two Cortex-A34.
Geekbench, well, indicates the types of cores, but talks about three clusters: four cores with a frequency of 1.53 GHz, two with a frequency of 2.62 GHz and six with a frequency of 2.15 GHz. This information is confirmed by screenshots from the mobile version of the benchmark.
We have not yet seen mobile SoCs with 12-core CPUs. At the same time, the performance of the Kirin 9000s, despite this configuration, is far from flagship by 2023 standards, that is, the cores themselves are not the most powerful.

The Core i9-14900KF is extremely slightly ahead of the Core i9-13900K and significantly behind the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The results of the new Intel CPU have appeared in PassMark

The Core i9-14900KF processor appeared in the PassMark benchmark database and immediately became the leader in the single-threaded performance rating.
Despite the fact that technically the Core i9-14900K/KF is a complete copy of the Core i9-13900KS, apparently there are some settings related to power limits. As a result, the new model is still a little faster than its predecessor, although this is unlikely to be noticeable in practice.
But in multi-threaded mode, which is much more important from a practical point of view, everything is more interesting: the new product differs vanishingly little in performance from the Core i9-13900K, and is even inferior to the Core i9-13900KS. And all of them are noticeably behind the Ryzen 9 7950X3D.
