Gartner estimates PC shipments down 6.8% in Q1 2022
Specialists of the analytical company Gartner summed up the results of the first quarter of this year in the personal computer market. According to their calculations, it turns out that in annual terms, shipments decreased more than it is indicated in the corresponding reports of IDC and Canalys. Recall, Canalys analysts claim that PC shipments decreased by 3%, while their colleagues from IDC are confident that the reduction was 5.1%. Shipments fell 6.8%, according to Gartner.
In total, 77.9 million PCs were shipped during the quarter. Gartner experts note that the reduction is especially noticeable in the Chromebook segment.
Lenovo was named the largest PC manufacturer in the quarter. Having shipped 18.56 million personal computers, it took 23.8% of the market. A year ago, Lenovo’s share was 25.0%.
In second place is HP, whose share fell from 23.1% to 20.4%. The third place is occupied by Dell. The share of this company increased from 15.6% to 17.7%.
The top five also includes Apple and Asus. The share of the former increased from 7.7% to 9.0% over the year, while the share of the latter increased from 7.0% to 7.1%.

For the first time in the history of Xiaomi. The latest flagship Xiaomi 13 Ultra will receive a variable aperture lens

Insider Digital Chat Station told something about the camera of the promising flagship Xiaomi 13 Ultra. According to the informant, a lens with a variable aperture will be prescribed in it. This technology will be introduced for the first time in a Xiaomi mobile phone.
A first for Xiaomi, but variable aperture lenses are nothing new for Huawei. Perhaps, in the case of Xiaomi, such a lens will be installed in a module with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 main sensor. As for the front camera, it is expected to use a 32-megapixel sensor and a wide-angle lens.
Previously, Digital Chat Station was the first to accurately announce the specifications and release dates of Redmi K50 and Xiaomi 12.

It became known when MIUI 14 will be released for Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Lite

The Chinese resource ITHome announced when phones of the once flagship Xiaomi Mi 10 line will receive MIUI 14. This will happen in April this year. Moreover, the update will be based on Android 13, not Android 13.
The firmware will be released for Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Lite. It is also noted that recently Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, Xiaomi 11 Lite and Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE received the latest version of MIUI 13.
Xiaomi previously officially confirmed that the devices of the Mi 10 line will receive MIUI 14. But the date or at least the approximate date for the release of the firmware was not indicated. It should be noted that in April MIUI 14 will be released for Xiaomi Mi 10 in China, but in other regions it will obviously appear later.

We waited two months and we will wait another two weeks. AMD told when it will release a new driver for Radeon RX 6000 and other cards (older)

AMD top manager Frank Azor, who is responsible for the direction of gaming solutions, promised users of 3D cards Radeon RX 6000 and older a new Adrenaline driver: it will appear within two weeks.
The situation, if not extraordinary, is rather strange: since the release of the Radeon RX 7000 line, the company has consistently updated the driver for them four times already, while for models based on the RDNA2 architecture (that is, the Radeon RX 6000) and older, not a single driver has been released.
In general, the company adheres to the strategy of releasing a unified Adrenaline driver for all models of its video cards (at least for those based on the RDNA3 and RDNA2 architectures), and Frank Azor once again confirmed this. But only recently the implementation of this strategy has stalled.
