Garmin has unveiled the new Forerunner 55 running smartwatch. This is a relatively inexpensive GPS-enabled model aimed at newbies.
The watch measures your heart rate and uses a GPS receiver to determine distance, speed, and coordinates while you run. However, as the manufacturer notes, the easy-to-use watch offers advanced features to monitor and improve the effectiveness of your workouts, rather than just measuring your pace and heart rate. The new product provides personalized guidance and daily recommended workouts based on the user’s activity history and fitness level.
The watch also implements the functions of monitoring health – “sports age”, round-the-clock monitoring of breathing and others. Built-in profiles for running, cycling, stadium running, virtual running, pool swimming, Pilates, HIIT, breathing exercises and more are available to track different types of activities.
The built-in recovery time feature after each workout provides the recommended rest time before the next intense workout. For runners, there is a forecast of the result in the competition and the estimated time of the finish. The proprietary PacePro feature offers GPS-based pace recommendations for a selected distance in the Garmin Connect app.
The battery life reaches 2 weeks in smartwatch mode and 20 hours in GPS mode. The watch is available in black, white and blue colors for $ 200 USD.

From 300 to 540 euros. Smart watches Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will noticeably rise in price in comparison with the Galaxy Watch 4
Whistleblower Roland Quandt has revealed the cost of Samsung’s new generation of smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro. If insider data is confirmed, then we can talk about a noticeable rise in price of new products relative to their predecessors: and this rise in price is the greater, the better the configuration.
Galaxy Watch 5 with a 40 mm screen will cost 300 and 350 euros for the version with Bluetooth and LTE, respectively. This watch will be offered in pink, gray and silver colors. For the Galaxy Watch 5 with a 44mm screen, you will have to pay 350 euros (Bluetooth) and 400 euros (LTE). This watch will be available in blue, gray and silver. The only format reserved for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is 45mm. Prices – 490 and 540 euros (respectively, the Bluetooth version and the version with LTE support).
For comparison, the cost of the Galaxy Watch 4 40 mm format is 270 (Bluetooth) and 320 (LTE) euros, the cost of the Galaxy Watch 4 44 mm format is 300 and 350 euros. For the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (they will be replaced by the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro) they ask for 400 and 460 euros. Thus, the maximum difference in the price of top models will be 90 euros, and this is a lot.
Roland Quandt is a well-known informant. In 2020, he completely declassified the GoPro 9 Black action camera before its announcement and named the exact cost, and in 2021 he completely declassified the GoPro 10 Black (and also with the price).
