Garmin Descent Mk2S – Smallest Watch-Design Dive Computer

Garmin has announced the release of the Descent Mk2S electronic wrist device. According to the manufacturer, this is the smallest diving computer designed like a watch.

Compactness and attractive design make Descent Mk2S suitable for continuous wear. The manufacturer refers to the advantages of the product as “maximum functionality”. Indeed, in addition to diving-related functions, the watch allows you to monitor physical activity using the most built-in profiles for popular sports activities, assess the quality of sleep, and women users can monitor the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Information is displayed on a 1.2-inch display with sapphire protection. The caliber of the case is 43 mm. The watch is powered by interchangeable QuickFit straps, available in a variety of options, including leather.

As far as the main task is concerned, the Descent Mk2S supports several dive modes, differing in the gases and equipment used. It marks dive start and end points with support for multiple GNSS satellite navigation systems and includes a 3-axis underwater compass. Divers can view depth, dive time, temperature, NDL / TTS, ascent / dive rate, gas mix, PO2, N2 load, decompression / safety stop information, time of day and much more on the watch screen. You can quickly customize dive modes by selecting additional screens with the desired data fields.

The watch allows you to save and view information about 200 dives; you can also see this data in the Garmin Dive app, which automatically offers a detailed analysis of each dive. Using the Explore tool, divers can plan their next trips. The app also allows you to view the equipment that was used for each dive.

When paired with a compatible smartphone, you can receive call alerts, text messages and calendar reminders, and use the Garmin Pay contactless payment system. The Descent Mk2S battery provides up to seven days of operation in smartwatch mode and up to 30 hours in diving mode.

The model is offered in three colors and costs 1,100 euros.
