From tomorrow, July 15, 2023, new provisions of the OSAGO law come into force, which allow you to settle the consequences of an accident on the road completely electronically. Car owners will be able to remotely interact with insurers at all stages, up to receiving an insurance payment.

Of course, there are a number of limitations. Firstly, remote settlement is possible only under the European protocol, when the damage is caused only to property and no more than two cars were involved in the accident, and no one else and nothing was injured. It is also necessary to have OSAGO for both drivers. You can file losses as a result of an accident only through the Gosuslug portal and the Gosuslugi Avto mobile application.

An application for “Public Services” can be submitted by clicking on the “Compensation for damages in case of an accident under OSAGO” button, all data available in the personal account about the driver and the car will be entered automatically. Scanned copies of the accident documents must be attached to the application. Then the user will agree on the time and place for the car to be inspected by the insurer in order to assess the amount of damage.

A number of insurance companies have already reported to journalists about their readiness for remote settlement of accidents. Comments were given in the press service of SOGAZ, AlfaStrakhovanie, VSK Insurance House. Director of the department of insurance payments “AlfaStrakhovanie” Alexander Haragezov explained:

It is important that through the “Gosuslugi” it will be possible to declare only insured events issued according to the European protocol. With such a settlement, it is not necessary to transfer the original documents to the insurer, but it will be necessary to present the car for inspection. Now the settlement takes place directly through the insurance company, with the obligatory provision of original documents. Through “Gosuslugi” the settlement will be remote.

By January 1, 2025, such a service should be implemented by all insurance companies.

As users have noticed, when opening the Maps application in Windows 11, a message appears: “By the end of 2023, offline maps will no longer be available in the Maps application.” After this date, you will not be able to view offline maps in the application.

The decision to end support is most likely due to the expiration of the agreement between Nokia, its Here brand and Microsoft.

Microsoft acquired Nokia’s mapping and navigation business (Here) in 2015, and since then both companies have been working together to create offline maps for Windows.

Intels recent statement was misinterpreted There will still be no

Intel seems to have decided to confuse the public with its plans for the desktop processor segment. It turns out that there will still be no full-fledged desktop models of Meteor Lake-S.

Intel's recent statement was misinterpreted. There will still be no full-fledged Meteor Lake-S desktop processors

Yes, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the client computing group Michelle Johnston Holthaus said just the day before yesterday that such CPUs would be released in 2024, which raised questions about three lines at once in one year. However, it now turns out that Holthaus did not actually mean the desktop segment in the form in which it is usually understood. Meteor Lake processors will indeed appear in desktop PCs, but this does not mean that such CPUs can be purchased separately and assembled into a computer based on them. In fact, Meteor Lake-S in the desktop segment will only be available in all-in-one PCs.

Meteor Lake is a power-efficient architecture that will power innovative mobile and desktop designs, including desktop form factors such as All-in-One (AIO). We will share more details about the product in the future

Intel

Intel already has experience releasing core KB desktop processors, which were only available in mini-PCs. Apparently, it will be the same story with Meteor Lake-S. Moreover, it is likely that technically these processors will completely copy mobile versions, except that the TDP may be higher.

That is, in 2024 we will have only two desktop lines: Raptor Lake Refresh, which will be released in October of this year, and then Arrow Lake-S sometime next year.

The biggest Windows 11 update not only new features but

Yesterday, Microsoft released the biggest update since the existence of the Windows 11 operating system. As users discovered, along with the Windows 11 23H2 (or Moment 4) update, one useful feature disappeared from the OS.

New “Explorer”

We are talking about the possibility of “drag and drop”. As Mayank Parmar, owner of the WindowsLatest topic resource, humorously complains, new Microsoft developers clearly don’t like the drag-and-drop feature or don’t understand its importance.

When Windows 11 first came out, users couldn’t drag and drop items onto the taskbar like they were used to. The option was returned a year later in the Windows 11 22H2 update. Microsoft “celebrated” the option as a completely new feature, although it was familiar to many different versions of Windows. And it looks like history will repeat itself.

Drag and drop works until Windows 11 23H2 update

Windows 11 23H2 introduces Explorer with a redesigned design, recommendations, and a new address bar that’s deeply integrated with OneDrive cloud storage. Microsoft support explains:

Explorer’s newly designed address bar recognizes local and cloud folders. It also shows the status of the file. For Microsoft OneDrive users, the address bar now includes OneDrive sync status and a storage limits pop-up window.

Drag and drop no longer works after Windows 11 23H2 update

This is all well and good, but with the new address bar you can no longer drag and drop files or apps. For example, if you have two folders on your computer and you want to move a file from one to the other. Previously, when dragging, the “Move to…” mark appeared, but now it is gone, and the entire function does not work. Here is one typical complaint:

Removing this feature from the address bar has disrupted my workflow many times lately.

A Microsoft representative said that the company is aware of these changes, but that no decision has been made in this regard. The company reported:

This [перетаскивание] is not currently supported by the updated address bar… we will continue to monitor feedback.
