Former Apple partner created liquid lenses for the new Xiaomi Mi Mix

Today Xiaomi will hold a huge presentation of its new products, the press conference will last at least 4 hours. During this event, the announcement of a variety of products is expected, including the new Xiaomi Mi Mix series.

The new Xiaomi Mi Mix will not only be the company’s first commercial smartphone to feature a foldable screen, but also the world’s first liquid lens phone. Xiaomi claims that such a lens allows the camera to be used in all scenarios (from telephoto to macro photography) and also provides fast autofocus.

Chinese media have learned that the first liquid lens for Xiaomi Mi Mix comes from Ofilm, a leading Chinese manufacturer. It previously worked closely with Apple, but last week the company released a document stating that Apple broke off the partnership and stopped buying lenses from Ofilm. At one time, Apple praised Ofilm very highly, and the leader of the company, Tim Cook, called Ofilm’s technologies excellent.

Xiaomi calls the technology of liquid lenses “magic”, it allows you to replace traditional lenses and create a device similar in principle to the human eye. At the same time, the liquid lens has high light transmission and is resistant to extreme environmental conditions.
