Ford Announces E-Transit Electric Van: 200km Range, Price Less than $ 45K

Ford has prepared the E-Transit van for production. This is an electric version of her versatile and popular Transit van.

The E-Transit was one of the first all-electric vehicles announced by Ford in 2016. Although the car has been in development for a long time, the company has no plans to launch it until 2022. However, the automaker is ready to share details about this electric vehicle.

Ford says the E-Transit has a 67 kWh battery and a 198 kW (266 hp) electric motor. The low-roofed cargo van has a declared range of 126 miles (about 202 km). Modifications with different roof heights (3 options), body lengths (3 options) and cargo compartment options will be available for customers’ choice. Various modifications offer different payloads from 3240 ft (about 1470 kg) to 3800 lbs (about 1725 kg).

E-Transit will receive support for DC fast charging with a capacity of over 115 kW. The automaker believes that such a charge will add “about 30 miles (48 km) in 10 minutes and about 45 miles (72 km) in 15 minutes.”

A special feature of E-Transit is the internet connection function. A 4G modem is available as standard equipment. This enables the use of remote services such as vehicle pre-conditioning or charging status reporting. The infotainment system includes a 12-inch touchscreen display. The system supports voice commands, cloud navigation, and SYNC over-the-air firmware updates. The E-Transit van is also equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 driver assistance and active safety feature set.

The Ford E-Transit electric van will go on sale for a base version price below $ 45,000.
