Intel recently finally launched its top-end high-performance Tiger Lake-H processors with six and eight cores to compete with the Ryzen 5000H. Before the release of new products, Intel in this field was quite mediocre, since the company offered very old CPUs.

The Core i7-11800H is the youngest eight-core processor in the line, which is possibly the most beneficial for users. How good is this CPU? The answer is given by extensive testing of TechSpot.

To begin with, let us recall that we are talking about an eight-core CPU of the Tiger Lake generation with support for Hyper-Threading, frequencies of 2.3-4.6 GHz, TDP 35-45 W and a new generation Intel UHD Graphics graphics core. In Full HD games with a GeForce RTX 3070 mobile graphics card, the new Intel processor performs well. It is often faster than any current AMD CPU and any predecessor. At the same time, as usual, almost always the difference from changing the processor is not particularly significant.

In addition, AMD processors remain more energy efficient, especially under light to medium workloads.

In the case of laptops, it is almost impossible to directly compare it, but the source says that from market observations and discussions of PC manufacturers, he can conclude that the Core i7-11800H is still more expensive than the Ryzen 7 5800H. Retail prices confirm this: similar laptops based on the Ryzen 7 5800H are several hundred dollars cheaper than models based on the Core i7-11800H, and sometimes even the versions with Ryzen 9 5900HX are cheaper.

Video cards look almost the same – and rather modestly. However, they are long – 329 mm (after all, there are three fans) and rather thick (they take up 3.1 slots). Nvidia itself says that Grace provides such results thanks to three main factors.
