According to Autopassioneitaliana, Fiat is thinking about reviving the Fiat 600 and Multipla models. At the same time, the Italians plan to reorganize the lineup and bring more crossovers to the market, as the demand for this type of vehicle is still growing.

In autumn 2023, Fiat wants to launch a 4m long, 1.52m high compact crossover on the CMP platform, which will have petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains. According to reports, the model will be called Fiat 600 (the electric version will be called 600e) and will be produced in Poland.

The second crossover will also be based on the CMP platform. Groupe PSA developed this platform in 2018 and the first model built on this platform was the DS3. This was followed by the Opel Mokka, Peugeot 2008 and the new Jeep Avenger.

The crossover will be called the Multipla and will be built in Turkey as Fiat moves production of the electric Doblo and Doblo to Spain and frees up production facilities. Other sources mention that the Fiat Multipla may be produced in Slovakia, in Trnava, where Peugeot and Citroen models were produced until now. Multipla will appear in 2024.

Fiat is also reportedly planning to build a successor to the Punto. The Italians used to have a small class model called Argo available only in South America. Using the same CMP platform, the Italians want to develop a new model for the South American market and for Europe.

The new model will be called Panda in Europe and will retain the Argo name in South America.

Bitcoin soared to the equivalent of 38000 in Nigeria

The price of one bitcoin (BTC) in Nigeria soared to the equivalent of $38,000 in the local currency, naira. This is significantly higher than the price of bitcoin on the world market, which is about $23,000.

At the time of writing, on the Nigerian crypto exchange NairaEX for 1 bitcoin they give 17.4 million naira, which corresponds to 37.8 thousand dollars. The peak value was 38.8 thousand dollars.

This is due to the fact that the Central Bank of Nigeria continues to impose restrictions on cash withdrawals from ATMs in order to reduce the share of cash in money circulation.

Bitcoin soared to the equivalent of $38,000 in Nigeria

In January, new rules were introduced that allowed Nigerians to withdraw no more than 20,000 naira (about $43.50) from ATMs per day, with a weekly limit of 100,000 naira (about $217).

The move was also taken just days before the new naira notes entered circulation in an effort to curb inflation and money laundering. The central bank has set a January 24 deadline for Nigerians to exchange their old higher denomination banknotes for the new currency.

However, long queues and complaints forced the Central Bank to extend Nigeria’s deadline until Feb. 10.

The free GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) raster graphics editor is about to receive a major update. This was reported by the GNU development team in their recent annual report.

Free and open source graphics editor: the mythical GIMP 3.0 will be released before the end of 2023, officially

In November 2022, GIMP celebrated its 27th birthday. Thus, users have been waiting for the third version for a really long time. The possible release of GIMP 3.0 has been talked about for a decade. GIMP 3.0 will have a redesigned user interface, a migration from GTK2 to GTK, and many other changes.

Until the end of 2023, the release of stable versions, or at least the first release candidates, is expected. True, in the report, the developer Jean Pages also left himself room for maneuver:

Here. I said it. If it doesn’t, remember that it wasn’t a promise.

He also explained:

There’s still a lot to be done, so I hope I’m not making a fool of myself. But at some point, the impossibility of the release is simply disappointing. Of course, we’re still within acceptable development time limits (GIMP 2.8-2.10 took 6 years, we’re still in our fifth year after 2.10), but I really want to get it over with.
